I think they should move it to the middle of Texas!! Then, all those eastern snobs would hightail it out of there as soon as possible.

Personally, I think we should allow the Democrats to suicide themselves, while refusing their invitation to join them.

Let me see.....the Democrats walked out of Congress protesting allowing the entry of Western states as non-slavers, or as choosing for themselves to be slavers or non-slavers; then it was the Democrats who whipped up secessionism in the South...they didn't want to give up their source of wealth -- slaves. And then it was the Democrats who made sure the blacks did not recieve full enfranchisement after the war; and then it was the Democrats who fought a Civil Rights Bill, until the Republicans had enough votes to get it through any way; and it was the Democrats who started the war in Viet Nam, then decided they didn't really want to win it, but kept fighting until thousands of young American boys died in it.

The Democrats are always committing suicide, and too often taking other Americans along with them.

Nope! We flat-out decline their invitation to mass suicide. The Democrats, led by Daschle, are welcome to surrender to the terrorists. They don't have to wait for the rest of us.

Hell, no! We won't go!

Is this the beginning of another Vietnam? Or are the
Democrats toying with throwing themselves off a political
cliff?

The wisdom of it lies in knowing what is at the foot
of the cliff.  If there is a giant air mattress of public
support, then this is the beginning of another Viet
Nam.  Without the firm footing of a Congressional
declaration of war, what we have  is an executive branch
operation which, if it stumbles or falls, rebounds
back to the President and his party.  Most
worrisome is the unending nature of this kind
of war.  Political support is never, ever unending.

I'm just waiting for the exit strategy for Byrd and Hollings. Talk about overstaying your welcome.

Is this the Democratic theme for the foreseeable future? Some Republicans are praying it is. They believe that if they can reinforce the notion that the Democrats are soft on terrorism and soft on defence, then a small margin in the congressional races this summer and autumn could become a rout in their favour.

The house Republican whip, Tom DeLay, felt the need to issue only a one-word response to Daschle’s question on the conduct of the war: “Disgusting.” For what it’s worth, I think those Republicans are right. As long as the administration keeps its nerve, and as long as military competence continues, the Democrats could be handing Bush a political gift of massive proportions.

The autumn elections may well be held as military action in Iraq reaches a critical point. If that happens, the Democrats could risk not only losing the Senate and the house, but also they could undo many post-Vietnam years devoted to persuading middle America that the party could be trusted on foreign policy.

Not only have the democrats split with the President on the war on terror, they have split with the American people. Its clear that the left has been trying since Sept. 12th make dancing on the graves of the WTC victims fashionable. I welcome them start going on with this campaign because we could use a few more senate seats.

Andrew Sullivan is a rare breed of journalist.

His writing is absolutely refreshing, seemingly immune to the political correctness a.k.a. anti-Americanism a.k.a. DemocRATic media talking points.

Truly incredible, and if his predictions hold, the outcome will potentially herald a renaissance in America, and the world.

With 82 percent of the populace behind "The War Effort", I'm glad someone is asking these questions.

Kind of surprising, this coming from Sullivan. We just survived eight years of 'popular poll-based' leadership. Is he suggesting that our anti-terrorism strategy be based on polls?

Would they have hesitated, as Democrats have, to frame Enron as a political scandal or to bombard the White House with subpoenas?

Is the Washington Monthly nuts?

With Schumer (and others) heading up the list of Enron beneficiaries, pursuing Enron as a Republican scandal would have been the height of insanity.

Well, the FIRST thing that comes to MY mind is that a VERY smart fellow, a LONG time ago, said something along the lines of:

If your enemy INSISTS upon committing suicide, GET THE HELL OUT OF HIS WAY!
