Thanks for posting this, annie.

This scandal will, I predict, cause Catholics to rethink their donations, if they see massive sums going to victims.

THAT will get the Vatican's attention.

I may get flamed for this, but this calamity will not be significantly addressed by John Paul II. He simply doesn't want to deal with it. It will be left to the next Pope to find a solution.

I agree. I am a converted catholic, since 1986, have spent years studying Catholicism, the more I learn, the more I realize how much has been lost since Vatican II. I am sooo disgusted with our Bishops who promote modernism, etc. I have read the mass and prayers before Vatican II, and after, and it is amazing what has been changed and left out. I go to mass and come out worse than when I went in. It is soo hard to keep focused as to the true meaning of mass. We are reaping what has been sowed. I do not go to mass anymore as much as I should. Pope John Paul II loves Vatican II, the equality of Bishops with the Pope, he will never stand up to what needs to be done.

I couldn't agree with you more , SS. After all, the people are "The Church". Enough of us are fed up, and want our "church" back. I'm starting this Sunday to withhold my donations.

If you agree that Navarro-Valls is the Vatican's spokesman, and if you read his comments to the effect that 'those [ordinations] may not be valid,' then what more should the Vatican say or do in the immediate future?

THAT statement was EXTREMELY interesting. It is the FIRST time that the Vatican has come right out and said, not that these ordinations were illicit--but that they are INVALID.

You know the terms, and the difference.

This gives the Bishops license, (until now questionable) to turn over the non-priests for prosecution.

As you recall, there was a debate ongoing over the last 10 years as to the permanence of the sacrament of Orders. Doesn't seem to be any debate now...the Vatican has spoken: THEY ARE NOT PRIESTS!!
