ORACLE SLASHES SOFTWARE PRICE - June 22, 2001
"Oracle has cut the price of its database software by nearly 50 percent, dramatically changing a price formula put into place nearly two years ago that saw prices increase as a customer's hardware became more powerful. It will now cost $40,000 per processor to license Oracle's new database upgrade, called "9i," according to Oracle CEO Larry Ellison. Ellison says that will put the price under database management software from competitors, a fact that is disputed by Oracle's major challengers, IBM and Microsoft."
Didn't the California contract get agreed to in May? I bet we taxpayers got 'the shaft' more than we got a deal. The governor got 'the deal'.
