Davis tells Silicon Valley execs they must help fix energy deregulation

Gov. Gray Davis bluntly told a group of top Silicon Valley executives Wednesday that since they asked for electricity deregulation, they must now pay their share to fix it. But Davis also assured local business leaders that rates will fall in two years.

Shakedown, yes. The company CEO's should have replied, "We're still asking for deregulation. What you and the Legislature gave us was a joke!"

The CEO's words carry a veiled threat. When they ask how they can stay competitive when they can't lock in long term rates, basically they're saying, "We're not going to stick around and let you bankrupt our company." Davis is too dense to read between the lines.

Ha! I guess the next executive order Davis will sign will ban any company from leaving CA and taking its assets like China did in Hong Kong.
