Wow, a multi-tasking hit piece.
Christians bad. Non-Christians good.
(You forgot the BARF alert.)

I was a bit concerned when I read this hit piece....then once I read it's from my home town paper...the SF Communist...er Comical..I mean..Chronicle...I relaxed! They hate people that are religious! Even though I am not the most religious person on the planet, I still respect religious people. Especially AFTER 9/11. Being on a religious program post 9/11 is not damaging...just mho...
God bless the right wingers.
The Comical only likes gays, minorities and commies...so..consider the source.

When asked in an interview to define his religious beliefs, Simon acknowledged, "I do believe in Jesus Christ. There's no question about that. I'm a Christian." But he added, "I firmly believe in the First Amendment and the separation of church and state." This article may, indeed, be a hit piece, but Simon's own weasel words do not inspire confidence.

Hmmmm? These people seem waaaaaay too concerned about how badly this appearance on TBN is going to affect Simon. How come they care if this is going to affect him badly?? They should be happy about it. The article seems to be more sympathetic toward Simon ... when it should be happy that this appearance could end up being a bad thing.
I don't think it will hurt Simon at all - in fact I think it will do what it was intended to do - show people out there that there is a Godly alternative to Gray Davis.

This article is another example of the liberal double-standard that prevails in the news media. Here Simon is being taken to task for appearing on a scam network but liberals are never taken to task for associating with fringe "Free Mumia," CIA-funds crack, AIDS is a Republican tool, Bush faked 9/11 types.

"Anytime an individual utters a word about religion in public, they try to make that individual scary -- and demonize them," he said. "But individuals are allowed to express their views in public without fear of discrimination and bias. That's what America is all about." BUMP! This is something the atheistic Democrats will never understand. America isn't about watching pornography and having sex with people of your gender while complaining about how blacks are "mistreated." America is about being free and we are only free by His grace.

Informed that TBN sometimes demands cash in exchange for favors from God, Simon made a joke of it: "Sounds like Gray Davis," he said.
This makes me think Simon is growing into the job - the LA Weekly described him in earlier weeks as seeming stiff and akward, but that's a line worthy of a real politician.
As for the appearance on a religious show, it seems (again) like pretty thin gruel. He is the conservative candidate; he's reaching out to his base. Now that he has his base, he's going for the moderates. No biggie.
