But the worst news is what's ahead. Wednesday, the governor told state agencies to plan for 20 percent cuts in their budgets beginning next July 1 (2003). This one's really going to hurt

Fiscal responsibility always does.

Of course anyone reading FR who's even halfway awake has known this for months. It's nice to see the mainstream media taking notice at last.

Trouble is, the legislature follows Gray Davis' lead, and I fear Davis was not elected for his creativity; I don't think he has any, actually.

The only creativeness governments have is in ways to tax us more and to spend the money foolishly.

Why is this bad news? This is good news! Virtually every state agency is bloated and could use a good audit and re-organization. So many agencies duplicate efforts, have phantom employees, waste resources, and have incompetent staff. (Not all ... there are some state employees who are fabulous, I know some, but the fact is that the lazy employees outweigh the good, hard-working ones ... and the hard-working employees are often frustrated because they can't change the status quo.)

DUMP DAVIS!!!!!
