Maybe there is hope yet. All Simon has to do is give the facts about the circumstances referred to in Davis' two dirt slinging campaign ads about him and remind the electorate what a lying SOB Davis is along with a few other choice tidbits about that lying socialist retirement stealing SOB which would be easy to reference and I wouldn't be surprised if he rides in on a landslide. But Simon has to work for it. I expect some real action after Labor Day. He couldn't have dreamed of a sleezier opponent to expose.
There has always been hope for Simon's campaign, despite all the hysterical shrieks to the contrary from FR. Heck, you've got an incumbent who still can't break 48% in the polls, despite his opponent suffering through several bad weeks.
This endorsement may be the momentum swing Simon needs, to be followed up by several Presidential fundraisers (and hopefully accompanying positive publicity) this week. And these visits will provide Simon some desperately needed funding going into Labor Day.
