The fact is, we just have to find a solution that works for all involved, including those already here who have not commited crimes (aside from entering illegally) or who believe in that Aztlan crap.

If we can do that, we have a good chance. I want Bush to have serious coattails when it comes to Hispanic votes.

Have you ever read any of Buchanan's books?

I think it's very possible to enfore the laws on the books but still reach out to Hispanic voters.

(aside from entering illegally)

Now I know you don't get it.
You're not even in favor of deporting illegals!

Run around Latin America without a visa and see how long you last!

Let's put aside your tendentious labeling of the "Buchanan-Tancredo crowd", as being motivated by fear. The fact is many of us live at ground zero for mass immigration. You don't. I suspect those of us who do know a good deal more about the real problems caused by massive demographic change than some know-it-all living in Virginia.

I wouldn't go down there. Neither do I want what's down there up here.

That answers my question about how successful you would be down there.

As far as not wanting anything from "down there" up here, you must not have eaten any tamales, chile rellanos, green chile, posole, tacos, etc. If you really haven't, I feel sorry for you.

I have. He is a good writer. He is a poor conservative. Pat has staked out the populist voice of this country that has been looking for another Huey P Long for generations. I no longer consider Pat a conservative voice even though I have no doubt he is honest in his belief. However, belief, no matter how principled, does NOT always translate to good decisions.

Sounds like something a future Governor would say....Just kidding, I agree, it is possible and the poll numbers prove it.

No, it's not denial. I talked with someone who knew the score. I also follow the advice of an old general: "Never take counsel of your fears." Or, if that doesn't make it clear for youAnd quite frankly, I'm not the one in denial.

Yes, there may be some terrorists or Aztlan types. But based on my brother's experience dealing with a lot of those people, I'm very confident they are a VERY small minority. Just as the KKK represents a very small minority of white people in this country.

And watcher1, in case you didn't notice, I'm all for requiring English proficiency. I also support making English the official language of the United States. LEt's get a lot of these folks to learn English so they can make it here.

If you have a problem with my religion, at least be up front about it.

As I said, I had ancestors who fled religious persecution/intolerance, including lethal mob violence.

Buchanan's last book hit the nail on the head.
We were born in a first world country but, we will die in a third world country
Everyday we slide a little closer to the third world

The problem appears to be yours, dude. I didn't mention "illegal" nor "invasion". Moreover my workplace is nearly 50% latino, so I suspect I'm a good deal more latino-friendly than a lot of the Open Borders poseurs at FR.

That said, I've watched Orange County, CA be dramatically transformed by a wave of immigration that can easily be called an invasion of illegals. Move here, and instead of wondering why those words are bandied about, you'll wonder why your government allows this to happen.
