Despite signs of a more positive image for Republicans, the poll showed continuing Republican weakness in California, where GOP gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon trailed Gov. Gray Davis 55 percent to 21 percent among Latinos.

Bush is coming to California to help lend some coattails to Simon!

Bush's sheen, according to de Posada, made itself felt in Congress, where Republican job approval rating among Latinos rose from 23 percent to 42 percent within a year, while negative ratings for Democrats almost doubled, from 13 percent to 25 percent, over the same period.

This is superb news. Nationally it has to have the RATS shaking in their boots. I hope CA can be picked up enough to unseat Davis.

Funny how all this happens without amnesty having to be extended.

California: Poll: Bush winning over Latino voters

----------------------

At what ultimate cost to the nation?

The necessity to win them over suggest a transfer of power to aliens and alien culture that renders me less than ecstatic.

That's the problem. In ten years the area will be a suburb of Mexico City instead of part of the U. S.

What we are witnessing is the dissolution of this nation and people on this forum are celebrating because Bush will temporarily get a few votes for brokering it.

All you have to remember is that prior to 1960 over ninety percent of Blacks were Republicans.

Every person who stood on the court house steps and yelled segregation yesterday, today, and tomorrow was a Democrat.

It was Republican Lincoln who freed the slaves. And Blacks were Republicans up until LBJ got the blacks to all become Democrats. It was southern Democrats that fought for segregation. It was Republican Earl Warren as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court who ruled that both public and school segregation were illegal. Yet LBJ converted 90 percent of blacks from Republican to Democrat.

LBJ appointed Thurgood Marshall to the supreme court and got the Republicans with the help of a few Democrats to pass the civil rights act of 1964.

With that meager contribution to civil rights, LBJ converted 12 percent of the population from Republicans to Democrats. If LBJ had not done so, no Democrat would have been elected president since 1964. If Lbj had not reached out to blacks, Republicans would have controlled both the house and the senate for the last 40 years. This would be a vastly different nation.

I remember all the people who were delighted that LBJ reached out to blacks. They were certain that he would lose many Democats and gain zero blacks. People kept saying that it was a Republican president who freed blacks, and a Republican Supreme court that gave them rights. But that was to little avail in the quest for black voters.

Lots of you were not yet born when 99 percent of the black population voted Republican. But the change of Blacks from being 99 percent Republican to 90 percent Democrat took place in my lifetime...less than 40 years ago. The Democratic party did very little to make that happen. It was all cosmetics and image.. and next to no action. YOU can bet your butt that Dubyu remembers and knows what he is doing.. if many of you do not.

He's fragmenting the country, diluting its once-effective culture, and pushing us into decline is what he is doing.

You are absolutely correct. That will be the outcome of this "celebration". Our country is being taken over.

Your fear is showing, RLK.

Quite frankly, I think you have grossly underestimated the ability of Hispanics, even Mexican-Americans, to assimilate. The Aztlan fringe is just that - a fringe. Just as much a fringe as the KKK.

What cost to our nation? Only the same cost as allowing Irish, Italian, and Eastern European immigration. Or Vietnamese and Filipino.

Your fears have been expressed before, and each time they have been proven wrong. I see no reason to heed them now.

WELL said.

The fear from the Buchanan-Tancredo crowd has been expressed before, and each time it was proven wrong. It was proven wrong with Irish, Italian, and various eastern European immigration waves.

I'm surprised the anti-immigration crowd has any credibility left.

We are erasing our borders, exporting our industry, losing our pride and self respect, and moving toward servitude to the deficiencies and insanities that can be found in the rest of the world.

Ah, like those "dual loyalist" Jews and "crafty" Chinamen?

I've lived among Mexicans and currently live among Arabs. Believe me, the former is much more preferable to the latter.
