Step by step, we are winning. As more and more Hispanics and "people of color" gain and grow into the Middle Class, they see the folly of confiscatory tax policy. "W" will continue to pull the inclusive tent up!

sure we win votes. But what we lose during pandering i.e. the rule of law, the Constitution, our way of life, does that make it worth it?

Sorry. I put this country before the GOP as well as its standard bearer. If, and thats a big if as all the Dems have to do is out-whore Dubya, these polls are accurate he'll get a plularity of Latino votes. Good for him. As for fulfilling his oath of faithfully executing the laws of this nation....

I guess what we're supposed to take away from this is that Hispanics are Democrats, but they turn into Latinos when they vote Republican.

That, and whoever edited this piece doesn't know a "block" from a "bloc".

OK then, I suppose Hitliary Klintoon will have the country's best interests at heart when she steps up and takes the oath of office on Jan 20th, 2005...just think about it for a minute. Are McCain or Harry B going to save the country too?

W is in the job now and doing the best he can with a Commie Senate and a limpwristed House...Glad I'm not one of the UberRight.

W is a principled man and deserves our support, even when I disagree with his spendthrift policies, he's still my President and we need him.

While some of it is policy, and a good bit simply pointing out how GOP policy and values fits in well with their own family values, I think the biggest reason is that Bush is courting them and TREATING THEM WITH RESPECT, just like he would any other American.

Amazing how treating someone like your neighbor will get them to listen to your message far more often than constantly screaming that they are "gangbanging welfare Invasionistas overtaking our country."

Some know how to win elections, gain power, win converts, and advance conservatism, while some only know how to fear and chase off others. Building a bigger base, versus subdividing.

Hopefully now that we are seeing some evidence that Bush's outreach to Hispanics is successful, more will turn and join in trying to recruit to and explain conservatism. Even Ronald Reagan wasn't always a conservative, nor was David Horowitz. Anyone can be educated to true conservatism, whether through experience, thought, or personal relationships.

I agree. We're pandering. "But when it comes to electing leaders, Hispanics turn to Democratic leaders, time and time again."

Show me, anyone, where Hispanics have voted Repub. Illegal aliens voting repub??? Won't happen.

Your posts show why the Dems win. They are content with one step at a time - and they get it. You want all or nothing, and you'll get nothing.

Better to stay "pure" in ever-shrinking numbers, or explain and recruit to conservatism? Why the dissappointment that Hispanics are open to the message of conservatism?

Ever consider that the more Hispanics in America who become conservative, the more the conservative message will be passed on to family and acquaintances in other countries? Wouldn't a major part of Mexico's problems be better addressed by adopting conservative principles?

When and if Hitlery becomes President I'm willing to bet it'll be largely due to the help of millions of amnestied illegals thanks to Bush's "outreach." Once in power, her task of imprisoning "right wing fanatics" such as you and I will be made easier and facilitated by Bush's policies and previous attacks upon Constitutional freedoms.

Houston mayoral election.

Let go of the political myth that Latinos won't accept conservatism. Its just as wrong as the Dem. myth that Republicans want to starve children and poison water. And frankly, just as disgusting.

Thanks to President Bush's lead, Republicans are earning more praise and confidence from Hispanic voters, leaving a clear message that the Latino vote is "up for grabs" in future elections, according to a study released Tuesday by The Latino Coalition in Washington, D.C.<>/I>

Say what you will about immigration from south of the border, the fact is that it is (and has been) happening -- No surprise here. One can rail against the storm, cursing Ted Kennedy and others for liberalising immigration policy, or one can adapt to the situation.

I read that Kennedy purposefully crafted "immigration reform" in the late sixties when he and his fellow socialst dims recognized that the old "solid south" was swinging to the Republicans. They determined that unrestricted immigration from poverty stricken southern countries (foremost, Mexico) would replenish the dimocrat constituency. Stupidly (as usual) the 'pubs at the time caved.

However, there has been an unforseen consequence: Mexicans are inherently conservative by culture. The only attraction to the dims is their offer of handouts, which the poverty-stricken newcomers understandably desire, in order to get on their feet. But on many other issues, Mexicans are very conservative. As they gain quality of life, they reject the (true) socialist agenda of the dims. Thus GW's (and some Republicans') strategy may in the end bear fruit.

The noise you hear are the silent prayers requesting forgiveness from those conservatives who have chosen to sacrifice a little of their own principle to insure that voices such as yours can continue to bleet and criticize from your armchair with at least the slightest bit of hope that you do not wake up one day with Hillary as president and a Supreme Court dominated by liberals.

If you want crystal pure principle, go find an ivory tower debate it to your minds content. This is politics baby, and it ain't for the feint of heart.
