The nonpartisan Asian Pacific Islander American Political Association of Sacramento is hosting a free forum at the Sheraton Grand Hotel from 1 to 6 p.m., with the question-and-answer session beginning at 2 p.m.
Each candidate will get about six minutes to answer questions prepared by a bipartisan panel, said APAPA spokesman Paul Manansala. Simon and 20 other politicians have confirmed, said Manansala, who's still hoping to get Gov. Gray Davis....-- snip --
...In 1992, only 3 percent of California voters were Asian American, Manansala said, but that figure has since doubled.
"It's a swing vote," he said. "The governor's race is getting tighter all the time."
The forum, which is also being sponsored by the Asian Pacific American Coalition of Solano County, has room for 1,000 people. Seats can be reserved online at www.apapa.org, Manansala said.more
