I also heard Bill Simon mention a poll last week, possibly paid for by White House people, where he was within 1-2% with Davis. I think their internal polling also showed that the "Davis accepting a check from Angele" photos hurt Davis, even though the actual photographed transaction was legal. It reminded everyone of Davis' quid pro quo governance and sleazy methods of political extortion.

I wish more people could see Mr. Simon in person. I met him briefly yesterday for the first time, and that cemented my feelings that he will truly work diligently to save California and will be the best governor in a long time. (Sorry, I wasn't around when Mr. Reagan was Governor.)

Tom McClintock has many fans among Libertarians. The Controller's race is the only statewide race in which the LP is not fielding a candidate. I think it's because the LP doesn't want to drain votes from McClintock.
