If there is no difference between the two political parties, you can go by the scandals of Democrats like Torricelli and x42--and condemn all politicians without being cynical. But there in fact are two different parties appealing to two different constituencies and accordingly marketing themselves differently.The Democratic Party is the party of the rich and famous, marketing itself as the party of the little guy. The Republican Party is the party of the middle class.
More Republicans than Democrats make contributions, Democrats who do contribute tend to make larger contributions. The Red/Blue map illustrates that Democrats are concentrated in the cities and the wealthy suburbs.
