Simon Rally Reports 11/02/02 - Santa Barbara, Monterey, San Jose, Modesto, Fresno

Feel free to post your comments on today's rallies for our California statewide candidates...

SAN JOSE

Freepers NormsRevenge, Mediaqueen, and yours truly, along with many more, welcomed the GOP statewide ticket to the San Jose area headed by (hopefully) our next governor, Bill Simon.

Many camps were at the San Jose Hyatt north of downtown for their candidates as well as many local races such as Linda Rae Hermann (to unseat Congresscritter Mike Honda) and Douglas McNea (to unseat Congresscritter Zoe Lofgren). Signs, stickers, and buttons were in abundance for everybody, especially for Simon. I brought out my FOR SALE: eGray Davi$ sign as well as my Gray Davis mask (Beavis with hair spray-painted metallic silver) which everybody got a kick out of, including the media. Most local television stations seemed to be in attendance and recording the events.

As we awaited the arrival of team GOP from their trek to Monterey, we socialized outside before going inside a packed room for the rally and speeches. Hermann and McNea addressed the enthusiastic crowd. Our local “Simon-ettes” did their most excellent version of “I’m gonna wash that Gray right outta my hair.” I managed to get in a few good chants of “help is on the way” and “Dump Davis.” All those years of Freepin’ paid off, I suppose. ;-)

Bill Simon would come along with candidates Bruce McPherson (for Lt. Gov), Keith Olberg (for Sec of State), Dick Ackerman (for Attorney General), Tom McClintock (for Controller), Greg Conlon (for Treasurer), Gary Mendoza (for Insurance Commish), and Katherine Smith (for State School Superintendent of Public Instruction). Shawn Steele was also there to pep up the group, as were a few others whose names I didn’t have a chance to write down. Most spoke, but Bill, alongside his lovely wife, was the main event.

Now that we were all jazzed up, we are ready to take back our state. Let’s win one more for the Gipper!

It was a blast, San Jose pix are up also at San Jose .

The age range was from infant to well up there. The crowd was boisterous and ready to rock. 4 news crews and who knows who else was there media-wise.

This is a good team and just what an ailing California needs ... God help us all if Davi$ were to hang around to finish his destructive deeds on the taxpayers and our nation as well.

Since I'm only about an hour or so from Santa Barbara, I took off early this morning to see Bill Simon at the Mercury Aviation facility near the Santa Barbara airport.

The pictures are still in my video camera, but I can report an impressive turnout (looks like about 100 people) and excellent crowd reactions to a pumped-up Bill Simon and friends.

Of course as an aviation fan, I was impressed by the campaign jet, which looked like a converted Boeing 737. It was huge. I missed most of it landing, and it was mysteriously delayed in takeoff, so I'm afraid my ambition of getting nice jet pictures was sadly demolished.

I told Cindy Simon about some of my plans, and I found her to be charming, warm and friendly. Her husband was very much in attendance, shaking everyone's hand and being his cordial self.

I'm glad they're on our team, and I look forward to seeing them again tomorrow, when I go to the Olvera Street rally!

Hehehe, Tomorrow I go down the main drag of Scotts Valley with the bed up.

Not bad for a campaign contribution that cost me less than $200.

They oughta hire me. I'd fix it fur sure! :-P

Our Sacramento "Dump Davis" freep was a great success, attracing over 100 committed activists, including freepers and their friends!

Video highlights include chants, speeches and some great visuals of the Dump Davis dump truck RonDog rented for the occasion! And who can resist seeing the eGray Hooker strut his stuff? I hear no price is too high ...

Media report #1 (5 o'clock broadcasts):

KRON-4 had the election stuff up after the olympic bid story. Davis up first, rally with union goons in CoCo County. Next up, Greenie Camejo hangin' with the homeless in SoCal. Finally, Simon and interviews of attendees with some of the past controversies of Davis & Simon in the mix.

KNTV-11 had the election stuff all the way back in the third segment of the newscast. Cheney heckled, Bush, Davis' stop in Pittsburg and Simon's appearance in San Jose.

Taped 11, didn't tape 4 but hopefully will rebroadcast at 11pm.

KPIX-5 on deck with their 5:30 broadcast...

I was disappointed KRON didn;t interview us, Isabel Duron looked and walked by with kind of a scowl. I guess it was the Marines hat or the Dump Davi$ stickers. .. Or it could have been yur eGray Hooker mask on the table. It's makeup almost looked better then hers, BTW. ;-P
