Who are those "Catholics"? There are many who are in name only who wouldn't know who the current Pope is.

They are those who self-identify themselves as Catholic to the LATimes' exit pollers. As I'm sure you are aware, there are also stats that say that the more a Catholic goes to church, the more likely it is that he/she will vote GOP. Still, it's very disheartening, especially here in Lost Angeles, where our Cardinal seems to have sold his soul to get the goodies from the dem govt. Pro-abort Riordan, who gave Cardinal Mohoney a helicopter is one of his good friends. Our hierarchy seems to have lost its way in more ways than one. A long time ago, I looked at the registration of the nuns and priests from our one parish. Most of the priests were dems and most of the nuns were GOP. Just a snapshot of one parish, but interesting all the same.
