Assemblyman John Dutra, D-Fremont, wants to suspend the mountain of paperwork reports ordered by lawmakers each year. Sen. Tom McClintock, R-Simi Valley, is seeking creation of an outside commission to propose bureaucratic cuts or realignments.

Assemblyman John Longville, D-Rialto, is pushing for a ballot measure to kill lawmakers' $121 daily living expenses for each day they're late in passing a budget.

State labor union officials say that some contracts with private industry are wasteful because public employees could do the work at less cost.
The issue has long been contentious.

I would hope someone destroys the myth that the public sector is more efficient than the private sector!

It will not be the labor Unions that do though, since that is only area where their membership is growing!
