The only legitimate gripe in the whole article was related to the costs of dealing with illegal immigrants. The federal government is responsible for controlling the border. California is stupid in that they throw out the welcome mat to illegals with a vast array of freebies (covered by exorbitant taxes on the proletariat of the People's Republik of Kalifornia).

Voters in California must like this form of government. They put the socialists back in office in November. Perhaps another 2 years of economic failure will catch their attention.

California has lost even that argument. Most of the big cities have a policy of not handing over illegals to INS when the local cops discover them. If we in CA aren't willing to do even that much in enforcing the immigration laws, then we have no business complaining about being burdened by illegals.

Let's see, Cali voters voted overwhelmingly for Prop 187, an initiative that would have curtailed a large amount of spending on illegal residents.

Davis conveniently dumped it.

Cali residents have since shrugged their shoulders and muttered ho-hum.

Typical C.E. (current-era) American reaction, wait until a disaster before taking action, maybe.

Hardly.
