Cutting that much from state spending would be ``a major drag on the economy,'' Janet Yellen, another Berkeley economics professor, added in a conference call with reporters.

A Berkeley economics professor, eh? So I'm sure she and her comrades have a (Dem) Party 5 Year Plan to ensure the workers have jobs!

I think most real (Austrian / Chicago school free market) economists would agree that cutting taxes and freeing productive capaital is EXACTLY what *will* improve the economy.

"Cutting that much from state spending would be ``a major drag on the economy,"

I see. If California can't spend it, it's a "major drag on the economy".

But if California takes the money from the taxpayer, isn't it a "major drag on the economy" if the taxpayer has no money to spend?

Talk about how all money belongs to the government except what the government "gives" you!
