No, no, no, no, no, a thousand times no. Just because she sleeps with the biological mother, that doesnt give her the right to be a legal parent. I GUARANTEE this will be turned down, even in Canada. You heard it here first.

Once we cross the border into legalized multiple parenthood, we have virtually arrived at the abolition of marriage and the family. No -- we should look at the positive side of this. Once we cross the border into legalized multiple marriages, then Social Security is finished because "survivor benefits" will last in perpetuity. Every elderly person in the nation will "get married" to their grandchildren, and the Social Security checks will keep rolling in.

Also, look for cult marriages a la Koresh. Bunches of people being "married" and having bunches of kids that they all sorta kinda take care of.
But it will all end in silliness, because the normal folks will finally get up the political will to pass a marriage law (or Constitutional amendment).
Only problem is their pristine amendment will read something like "A valid marriage contract can only be made between a single man and a single woman."
The problem with this is that there will soon come a day when a man marries a woman and one of them gets a sex change operation. Once that marriage is accepted under the marriage law someone will ask:
If those two "men" are married, why can't we two men get married?
We need a marriage law and it needs to be VERY explicit: A marriage contract is valid only when a biological male marries a biological female. The contract ceases to be valid if either or both of the parties get sex change operations.
For good measure there should be some language added suggesting that we did not separate from England and fight a Civil War so a bunch of freaks could get lower medical insurance rates.

A real marriage, and after that, a sound family, is a personal witness of lifelong commitment, against many, many forces in society (not all of which originate from the left) which strive to tear it down. Let the state do what it may and call whatever it wishes by whatever name it chooses -- true family endures, and thrives, in the face of such adversity.
