lol, of course, though both tend to have an antidisestablishmentarianist way of thinking.

Why this obsession on labels? Is it for statistical purposes? We need "labels", "names" and "notions" to be able to think and to see the world around us.

Their conservative counterparts in the 1970's were the John Birchers and Young Americans for Freedom, who refused to budge an inch in support of any program of the left, The left has so hijacked the American mindset that the "conservatives" are battling each other...my bippy!!!! The left has simply come aboard to the winning side, and are working to damage the right from within....

Yeah, but I can't see assigning a negative or positive to these terms. Just because something is old or extinct, doesn't mean it's bad.

extinct is the key word though, because that's what they'd want. This 'traditional' conservatism is something that neocoms (and the neolibs for that matter) would like out of the picture. It's an obstruction to their plan for the world.

Only 20% of American Jews voted for President Bush, actually down from the 35% who voted for Reagan in 1988 The article is incorrect. Excluding write-ins, exactly zero percent of American Jews voted for Reagan in 1988.

Why the obsession with such detail though? Especially for things as subjective as religious or political beliefs? It's too easy for the wrong ideas to be inferred by a single word or two.

This split is far from being significant politically; the isolationist paleocons are very few in number, and most will vote for a GOP neocon come election day.

this reminds me of Monty Python's "Life of Brian" wherein the various Judea liberation fronts splintered from one another. I recall a scene where they were sitting in some Colliseum-like seating and John Cleese, w/ the 3 or 4 people in his group, looked over at 2 people sitting apart and yelled "splinters!".

Isn't that funny...They used to be called the Republican Right as opposed to the Republican Moderates...And everyone understood what they were...
Now, someone invented new lables that have to be explained...No doubt there's a buck in it...
My question is, how liberal (neo) can a Conservative get and still call him/herself a Conservative???
