Syphilis up, most new cases are homosexuals
New Jersey News ^
Posted on 05/06/2003 3:59:31 PM PDT by Feldkurat_Katz
State Health Department data released last week indicate that 121 men were diagnosed with syphilis in its first or second stages in 2002. State health officials say the vast majority were among men having sex with men. Forty-eight women were diagnosed with the disease in 2002.
Although the number of infected people is low - compare it with the 1,719 New Jersey cases in 1990 - public health experts say the rapid spike in infections is deeply troubling. It signals that many gay men have resumed unprotected sex with multiple partners, a trend with worrisome health implications.
The uptick indicates that recent aggressive efforts to control the spread of syphilis are not enough to counter the liberation many gay men have felt since new medications turned HIV into a chronic disease instead of a death sentence.

My only ping list is my conservative Catholics ping list, and they're probably sick of my posts on the homosexual juggernaut over the last week ;-)
But here's a ping nonetheless.
(As usual, if you would like to be added to or removed from my conservative Catholics ping list, just send me a FReepmail.)

And they still insist they are no different from the rest of us! Yeah, after ten years my wife and I still have yet to pass any diseases between each other.
I suspect that germs are filled with discrimination and hate. It can be the only answer.

I suspect that germs are filled with discrimination and hate. It can be the only answer. Well, germs can't read the "gay" rights statutes. Maybe homosexuals should sue the germs?
Seriously, this is an excellent reason any particular form of sex (e.g. anal sex) should not be a civil right.

Listen, neighbor, worrisome is that funny sound coming from the coffee maker. Considering the (medical) history of this kind of behavior, the word "worrisome" is a bit too polite.

A report similar to this seems to surface every year or so. Not sure what to make of this except I'm glad I'm not in a risk pool. Of all the ways to go, rotting from the inside isn't a very pleasent one.

How long has it been since Magic Johnson was diagnosed with HIV? 10-12 years?
