New Kerry Halliburton Ad

On the same day that Osama Bin Laden released a statement claiming American is in Iraq to make money for Halliburton, John Kerry has a new web ad at Salon.com claiming the invasion of Iraq was only about Halliburton:

“For the 1st time in history a corporation was allowed to invade a nation. No wonder the UN wasn’t involved. It’s time to UNSEAT George W. Bush. Click here to contribute. Paid for by John Kerry for President, Inc.”

Here's what bin Laden said: "We must take into consideration that this war brings billions of dollars in profit to the major companies, whether it be those that produce weapons or those that contribute to reconstruction, such as the Halliburton Company, its sisters and daughters."

Some may remember in March 2003, Kerry promised not to attack the President on this issue once the war began: ‘It’s what you owe the troops,’ said a statement from Kerry, a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. ‘I remember being one of those guys and reading news reports from home. Yeah that nasty evil AMERICAN company. Their employees are risking their lives to supply our troops ( oh yes Kerry voted against suppling our troops) Now if Halliburton were a FRENCH company, things would be different. Just heard about this on Hugh Hewitt, but I cant find it. I am assuming it is the top banner and I have been refreshing my browser, but no Halliburton. Do you have a direct to the ad?

No, I wish I did! I saw it at Salon.com, and I just went back to try to get it to come up again but no luck (at least for the five minutes I was clicking around). Even if I found it, I think it's a random placement. So far, I haven't found a permanent link (I looked at the Kerry campaign website, too). :/

The ad was also mentioned on FNC's Special Report tonight.

I have a serious question. Sarcastic replies not needed. I think its safe to say that OBL is a smart terrorist. I would like to hear some feedback on this question. Why do guys think OBL is trying to play-off of Kerry's rhetoric on the "evil Halliburton"?

OBL is "playing off" of the international socialist community's repetition of Kerry's (and ALL democrats') continued lies.

They get away with it,of course, through the compliancy of the US and international press corpse's failure to report the truth: rather, the press repeats the democrat's lies, prompts them about it, and then challenges the repub response (what little response there is!) from the international socialist position:

US = bad,

US business = more bad,

US freeing people enslaved by Saddam = more, more bad.

French/Russian/German/UN making money from bribes and Saddamn's oil = no story, good news, and more money to socialists.

OBL is doing it because lets face it.... even the democraps know that Kerry is going to be weaker on homeland security and defense and especially the remainder of the war on terror. And of course the Dems support this weaker military Kerry will create.

So clearly Osamma supports this because he supports John Kerry as president because an election of john kerry would lead to a decreased chance of OBL being caught ( since Kerry will be weaker on terrorism) and thus because of this, OBL will use anything against bush to try to get Kerry elected, so that OBL wont be caught, and can do more attacks.

As for why he picked Haliburton to focus on, who knows?

That's really the only relevant question. There's only 2 or 3 companies in the world that can do what Halliburton does. Halliburton is American and has security clearance. Who else you gonna call?

What I find interesting about all this bickering about what company was chosen is: You don't hear it from the business world. The CEO of Schlumberger doesn't hold press conferences to complain that Halliburton was given preferential treatment. The only people you hear complain are Democrats.

Similarly, you don't hear the military complain about troop strength or needing a draft. All that talk is coming from political operatives and their sympathetic talking heads.

Dick Cheney severed his ties with Halliburton as soon as he ran for Vice President. He left something like $22 million worth of stock options expire worthless rather than exercise them. Those actions aren't consistent with the idea that Cheney is a greedy SOB who starts wars to line his own pockets.

I wonder how much money the Heinz corporation is making off the war? I'm willing to bet it's a substantial amount. But it would be ridiculous to claim they started the war to make that money.

OBL might be a smart tactician, but his strategy has always been fairly idiotic. He thought that 9/11 would get the US out of the Middle East. Good job, genius.

OBL has a pattern of doing something and then justifying it later based on the press he receives. For instance, the purpose of 9/11 had nothing to do with Palestine, but when the Palestinians danced in the streets he retroactively claimed that as a major cause.

His stated purpose for starting Jihad against America was to get US troops out of Saudi Arabia. The troops were there to protect the Saudis from Iraqi invasion. So when we took out Saddam, we removed our troops from Saudi. OBL therefore should be happy that his goal was accomplished.

Ever the whiner, OBL has to find something else to yammer about. His Halliburton riff was grasping at straws, which he does frequently. He's also riffed against the Moors being expelled from Spain in the 15th century and the treatment of American Indians in the 19th century. He throws things against the wall and sees what sticks.

OBL is an extreme example of the Anyone But Bush crowd. He can't have a positive message, because not everyone would agree with that message. Look at the war protestors. For some, the # 1 thing they want is Gay Marriage or A Living Wage or An End To Globalization. Some of the positive changes they want are counter to each other's purposes.

But everyone who hates Bush can agree on the fact that they hate Bush. OBL couldn't get anti-Bush people to agree that they should all convert to radical Islam. Therefore, he gets them to agree that they should all hate Bush.
