I know I am, Thompson would be a disaster as president.

Yup, he would be a disaster for liberals and RINO's, they would scramble for cover under a strong conservative like Fred.

You know, there was a time that I thought you were an intelligent poster. I actually used to like reading your posts. Now, you’re nothing but an illogical hack. Carry on with your Willardian yarn spinning.

Actually, coverage of FRC is proving my point as well.

THe overall score which included all members of FRC (voting online), Romney 1st, Huckabee 2nd, Paul 3rd, Thompson 4th.

The attendee vote: Huckabee 1st, Romney 2nd, Thompson 3rd, Tancredo 4th.

So what is the mainstream media story? According to you, they will all be talking about how terrible Fred Thompson did. But a quick reading shows nobody is talking about Thompson.

Instead, the story is Romney. But in the mainstream media, it’s not that ROmney won the overall poll, or that he came in 2nd beating Thompson at the conference.

No, there are multiple stories about Romney manipulating the vote, about how nobody clapped when he was announced as winning, etc.

In other words, attacks on Romney for the FRC conference, and mum’s the word on Thompson who Romney beat at the conference.

That’s how the media helps Thompson and hits Romney.

Given the clear evidence that the media is NOT pushing Romney, and is going pretty nice with Thompson, your claims of me being an “illogical hack” seem misplaced.

I realise that, as a Romney supporter, I probably am more tuned in to attacks on my candidate, and obviously you are of yours as well. Knowing that tendency for bias, I have tried to take your input into consideration, and glanced through a bunch of the posts at the link you posted for me to see the “proof” that you were right.

But the more I read those links, the more I could see that I was right, as I explained in my example about the FRC conference.

Now, I realise someone in this BLOG used the results of FRC to attack Thompson for not winning.

But you aren’t arguing that the media is reporting facts about Thompson.

“Romney is the most conservative and more important, ELECTIBLE, candidate the GOP has for ‘08.”

Romney is the most conservative candidate... to ever come out of Massachusetts.

Romney is a slick politician who will say anything to get elected. I love how his recent campaign ads talk about how this is a time where we should embrace conservative principles, not compromise them. His ‘94 and ‘02 campaigns sure didn’t seem to line up with that notion...

But back to Fred, he’s a far better choice for the GOP base. He’s had a clear political record of support for pro-life, conservative causes and is a relatively well-know and likeable public figure. It’s a testament to one’s electability, when I’ve seen plenty of disaffected moderates say to me they like Fred and would support him.

This is what the GOP needs if we have any chance at beating Billary... an authentic and approachable conservative that can appease the base fully, but also appeal to the middle.

Fred, he’s a far better choice for the GOP base.

If Fred is chosen, I'm OK with that. (how cool will it be to have a President named "Fred" ... it's so down to earth American)

I just believe Fred stands a higher chance of losing, due to his inability to attract younger moderates. (unfortunately they are needed to win the general election)

Also, Fred is getting long of tooth, and somehow he just doesn't have that vibrant look I believe is essential in today's media-driven cosmetic TV age.

He just recently announced he's been suffering from some disease which I can't recall at this exact moment.

And yes, it WILL take a candidate with energy and stamina enough to criss-cross this country 24/7 from now till Nov. 2008. I just don't see Fred as having enough energy.

Romney on the other hand has an insatiable desire to campaign, and he's good at it.

I also see his swing to the right as sincere, effective, and better able to attract the young.

His family will be a HUGE asset in attracting younger voters, once America comes to know them thru TV interviews.

Also, Romney is so squeeky clean, and THAT will be a huge plus ... considering the anal exam the lib-slanted media will conduct.

Dobson, Bob Jones III, Hugh Hewitt, Medved, Pat Robertson, Liberty University, and numerous other mainstream conservatives see in Romney the same thing I do.

A fighter for the conservative cause, despite some mushy statements of the past.

Romney's record, in fact, is much more conservative than his rhetoric. That is due, I believe, to his having to appease the liberal hoardes in Massachusetts.
