“They just want to be on the side that’s winning.”

That would be sensible in some respects, but I don’t think that’s what they want. They want Marxism/socialism to win at all costs, and any time it appears to be losing they will unfailingly attack anyone appearing to be remotely conservative...and if a conservative actually wins, the MSM will continue to attack said conservative until the MSM croaks (which is hopefully sooner vs. later).

Your assuming that these people have such powers. In social psychology we use a term called better-than-average effect to explain such rhetoric. Individuals such as Rove and Krauthammer are intelligent people. But when discredited and shown to be wrong, They rebel and use excuses as their intelligence and insight is questioned. Everyone suffers from this phenomenon, as everyone thinks they are better, smarter, more ethical, better looking, healthier and so on then the average person. It’s not their fault, It’s human nature. Think of it as a baseball team who loses and questions the umpire for the result, and the baseball team who wins and congratulates themselves for being superior than the other team. Same thing.

Krauthammer and Rove are no more insightful than you and I. They just think they are. <-———Self-Serving Bias
