Now they are using mercury in jackets for more power and blast. According to Peshawar police official it’s the third time changing from militants and they are more advance with the help of foreign militants. Police confirm that they detain so many suicides and recovered from them suicide jacket, during inspection of these jacket and investigation they discover that militants groups use mercury for better result. According to police expert the change become after that security forces now target suicide person far away from their post and suicide person didn’t reach their target and some time suicide jacket didn’t explode. So for more terror and killing now they are using mercury which blast also later, incase if any suicide person target by security force and when they try to recover the jacket, that time the jacket be burst out. Police official and expert whose didn’t want show him self because of security reason said that militants more focus on their targets , so they now use mercury between explosive and detonator in suicide jacket. Police also confirm that before this technique terrorist use tracker in suicide jackets, but the result is not good, so they change their technique with the help of foreign militants. This is more danger sly.

I have to remember what Patton said about how to win a war;

“You don’t win a war by dying for your country. You win a war by making the other son-of-a-bitch die for his.”

These blowbots don’t even have the basics right.

Might be Hg fulminate. For sure metallic Hg won’t explode, though in the USA it can cause terror. Not to far away from where I live, a school got shut down for several days because of a mercury barometer.

The post text is pretty unintelligible, no telling what was actually meant.

They will doubtless receive a commendation from NASA for their contribution to science and technology.

Mercury is a liquid metal and turns into thousands of little balls that act like shrapnel.

Being liquid at ambient temperature, in an explosion it would be pretty much instantly vaporized.

The one area where the Muslim world is advancing technologically. Suicide bomb making. They pretty well have a monopoly on the business.

The only thing that comes to mind with mercury is wiring in a mercury switch. It sets the device off if turned the wrong way or is shaken.

Mercury will turn into a mist and won’t do squat.
That’s why buckshot hurts more than birdshot.

Of course, if it does penetrate the body, Mercury will have toxic effects.

I think it would vaporize in a blast. It’s not a great projectile.

A water jet would be better, since it’s easier to get, and packs a punch at 15,000 fps.

so they now use mercury between explosive and detonator in suicide jacket.

Sounds like it could be a way to more reliably transmit the shockwave from the detonator to the main charge.

Every time Peshawar is mentioned I take the opportunity to remind folks that before 1 Oct. 2001, I said that den of thieves should have been flattened.

You are thinking ‘liquid’ as in water or oil.
Liquid mercury is very, very heavy, like lead. I would not want to be hit with a mercury blob at any velocity..................

They are talking about a “dead man switch”. A mercury switch inside of the jacket allows the jacket to blow if the bomber dies, they take the jacket off, or he removes the jacket. I’ll bet the bomber doesn’t even know about the switch.

Wait a minute doesn’t Pakistan require an EIS to be written when you change procedures? Mercury in the environment can be bad. The Pakistan government EPA is falling down on the job.
