Peter Singleton, Iowa state co-ordinator for Organize4Palin:
(snip)
Imagine, if you will, that this is May 1944. Were all in our tents in Great Britain. Were all preparing.
Youve checked your boots. And checked your gear. Do you have your sidearm? Check. What about your rifle? Double check. How about extra ammo? Youve packed and re-packed the landing craft. The fellows in the airborne have pored over the maps of the drop zones, again and again.
And as you continue through the laundry list of things you need to do to prepare for the call to hit the beaches you notice your buddy two bunks over is just sitting there, his arms crossed tightly.
Hey pal, you call out. Arent you gonna get ready?
No, he mutters under his breath.
Why not? Everyone knows that the invasion is imminent!
Because General Eisenhower hasnt briefed me on his strategy.
What!? you reply incredulously.
When are we going? Where are we going to hit? he exclaims. What day? These are all things we need to know, and know right now. Im not going to do a thing to get ready until I hear from the General!
That scenario is preposterous when you think about it, isnt it? Because, as soldiers, they all knew they had to be ready. They did know that invading the continent was almost certain and was imminent. But they also knew that they would never be privy to the strategic planningand should not be. The less people who knew of the whens and the wherefores, the less chance there was of the information being leaked to the Germans. And then what would have happened? The Germans would have been ready and waiting on June 6, and on the beaches of Normandyand the course of the war and of human history would have been changed.
So we too must look at the election cycle metaphorically as a war.
Today, for us, it is May of 1944. We dont know when the call will come, only that its almost certainly coming and its coming soon.
So our job right now is to prepare for that call so that when the announcement comes we are ready to go. Were are prepared and ready for what is to come.
That the General hasnt filled us in on her strategy is no surprise. Secrecy and message discipline is vital in any campaign be it a campaign for war or a campaign for office. This is could not be more important in this, potentially the most important election in American history.
So the question I throw out there to all Palin supporters is this
Are you ready to storm the beaches?
Palin isnt God and no one thinks she is
My admiration for Sarah stems from the fact that she TRUSTS God, not that she IS God.
I don’t even speak French, but I understood that. Funny!
We must be ready like the cavalry of old to ride to the sounds of the guns. This will be a hard battle, an up hill struggle made worse by the MSM, Tina Fey, and the Unions. Still, if the Republic is to be saved, its a battle that must be fought. It will not be easy-—are you ready? It will cost you more than just a little shoe leather. This is an election that may even see loss of lives and reputation. Would you lose your job for Sarah Palin? Would you risk your family? Maybe even your life? Those about to land on Omaha Beach knew they could end up dead—are we ready to make the ultimate sacrifice for freedom to end a dark and diabolical tyranny? I fear many Americans are not committed. In the end they will do what is easy and not what is right.
Glad you liked that. The original painting is called, “Grand Old Gang” by Andy Thomas. Palin isn’t in the original, but was digitally added by some talented person in a HotAir contest.
Oy!!! Gerbil? Ou est le fromage?
You're most welcome, Mary Beth. I saw a snippet of it posted on Facebook, and I clicked through to read the article. I was already copying and pasting to FR before I was halfway through it.
I thought the D-Day analogy was perfect. Thank you for writing it.
Don’t worry she is going to make her intentions known by the end of September. Or so I’m told around here.
Mission understood and acknowledged.
Ready and waiting.
