I do however see the possibility of a Gingrich/Romney ticket that will be very similar to Reagan/Bush in 1980. George H.W. Bush was the absolute last person that Ronald Reagan wanted on his team. (He actually wanted Paul Laxalt from Nevada.)

There is a difference here. Reagan went in as the front-runner and maintained throughout (after a hiccough in Iowa, which had not been an important Republican contest before; it's importance was in the Dem contest, when Jimmy Carter finished a distant second to "Uncommitted"). Bush became the "Not Reagan" if you will.

The more important difference is Bush played fair by comparison. Yeah, there was "Voodoo Economics". Of course an opponent would say stuff like that. Romney sets his SuperPac with every half truth, innuendo and lie in Iowa, and then acts like the character Angel in the Rockford Files. "No, Jimmy, I didn't squeal to those mob thugs. I held out as long as I could." If Angel is too rough-edged, we can liken Romney to the Pecksniff character in Martin Chuzzlewit, a sniveling panderer who took credit for other people's work while excoriating them behind their backs.

G.H.W. Bush was a practical political deal made when the New Right was just coming to ascendency. This ain't 1980, and Romney certainly cannot deliver Massachusetts. If anything, put him in Commerce or Ambassador to Mexico or something, to keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

I was a big Newt fan back in the days of the Contract with America, but then he lost his way.

I never thought I'd get back on his bandwagon, but he's definitely not the RINO elite's candidate, so I'm back on again.

He's our only hope of stopping the Romney train wreck.

The very latest South Carolina poll (American Research Group) has Gingrich at 40% and Mittwit at 26%. See Drudge. That poll apparently takes into consideration the reaction to Gingrich taking a lead pipe and smacking the CNN anchorman up side the head over the ex-wife/hell hath no fury story which ABC tried to use to destroy Newt and CNN tried to get in on.

I could easily have supported Herman Cain (with deep reservations about and opposition to 9-9-9), Social Issue hero Rick Santorum, wonderful hard-liner Michelle Bachmann or imperfect superstar Newt Gingrich. First and foremost, I would have supported Sarah Palin. I could NEVER, under any circumstance support Mittwit, Crackpot Paulie or Obamabot Huntsman. Sarah Palin is gone from this race. Cain is gone. Bachmann is gone. Personally, I would prefer Santorum but it appears that he has not received what the Chinese call The Mandate of Heaven (good fortune). JimRob says Gingrich. I know to lead but I certainly know how to follow especially when JimRob is leading on this question.

I do want someone who will take it to Romney with controlled rage and encyclopedic evidence and destroy him, take it to Obama with controlled rage and encyclopedic evidence big time and leave his steaming separated entrails in the gutter, and, most of all, take it to the lamestream media cretins (now including Fox) who have tried to cram spineless, soulless Mittwit down our throats at the obvious risk of re-electing Obozo while nauseated Americans stay home rather than vote Mittwit in the general election. Gingrich increasingly becomes the obvious choice with each passing day.

Romney has no business being anywhere near the presidency. Give Newt life insurance. Make Rick Santorum his running mate bringing more social conservatives on board and Pennsylvania into play. Involve Sarah Palin in the campaign, Involve Herman Cain. Force Bachmann into Congressional leadership whether the Boehner/McConnell quislings like it or not. If they resist, throw both of them out of leadership. That's a great idea even if they don't resist Bachmann. Choose Marco Rubio to be GOP Senate Majority Leader. Give RAND Paul some lesser leadership position on probation and fire him the instant he mouths off against war or the military or goes nuts with 10th Amendment political insanities. Make him a public offer whether he wants to accept or not. We shall then see what the Ron Paul "Revolution" and its supporters are really all about. Make Ron Johnson another Senate leader (Senatorial Campaign Committee Chair?). Assuming a comfortable Senate Majority (Less than 60, more than 54), expel Moocowski from the GOP Senate Caucus the very first time she defects on an important issue. In the 2016 election make her defeat a major priority and hang her scalp on Rubio's wall as a posterscalp and graphic warning to others of her ilk. Give Sarah Palin the ceremonial opportunity of taking and hanging the Moocowski scalp. Take lots of photos and film and distribute on Internet and to lamestream media. Bar ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, NYT, LAT, Chicago Tribune and other offenders from the White House, from its lawn and especially from the White House Press Room and Conferences. p> Rule or ruin. Get angry, be angry, stay angry and turn your anger into tightly controlled results. Purge the GOP and destroy the Demonrats permanently.

He does not need to run with a treasonous globalist selected by the crowd that has screwed up the country and economy.

Let the limo-liberal internationalists - the ruler technocrat wannbes - sit out on the sidelines while we take the US Treasury, constitution and our sovergnity back for the people. Bush No.1 was not a great influence for Reagan and he was not good for the GOP.

Newt needs someone who is a conservative as he has enough flights of fancy himself and needs to be anchored in reality and kept on task. Romney beleives in man-made global warming for the massive shake down of money and power it will bring to the limo riders and UN wackos.
