I have to disagree. Conservatives largely did get behind Romney. The problem was, Obama lost millions of voters from 2008 yet Romney was unable to pull them into his orbit - because IMO he presented them with a candidate that they just could not relate to. And it didn't have anything to do with free stuff with most swing voters, otherwise they would have stayed with Obama. Instead, Romney offered no compelling vision as to why he sought the presidency - because IMO he sought it for reasons that had nothing to do with core principles or values.
Romney was turning out HUGE crowds in deep blue territory.
Obama was barely able lure folks with free food.
Something is really amiss in our analysis of what went wrong.
