Shocking video on the "war on drugs" and whether Marijuana is in fact "harmless." Most shocking is at 4:25 when you see 12-15 year olds smoking weed like it's nothing!

Hey Stevie, nothing in this universe is “harmless”.

Is it? Or is it not? Non toxic?

Cerially you prohibitionists make too big a deal of it. It's only a flower.

Yes. Unfortunately, both the contemporary "Conservative" and "Liberal" factions are in large part comprised of statolatrists whom advocate invasive government, so long as it's being utilized to impose their moral imperatives.

Merely citing two (2) scientifically proven, clinically accepted facts. Deal with it. Denial may in fact suit you, but it is unbecoming nontheless.

I simply show that statistically, teenagers are much more LIKELY to use drugs when they are legalized or perceived as harmless. That’s just a fact.

How did you collect statistics on a theoretical situation? Obviously drugs have not been legal for many decades and have probably never been widely perceived as harmless. That's some weird science.

You know, there was a time when the country lacked drug prohibition laws, and society didn’t fall apart. And yes, ‘hard’ drugs (heroin, amphetamine, etc.) were available back then, too.

Libertarians created the constitution. Until then there was nothing to ‘conserve’.

Do you think not giving kids a criminal record for pot is irrational? Marijuana law is far more dangerous to youth than marijuana.

For the last time, I’m not a “prohibitionist.”

Make it legal in your state, fine!

But saying that it’s harmless is at best, wrong... at worst, deliberately misleading.

Thanks for not going Carrie Nation / GeronL.

There are a few so called conservatives that would have every one that has ever had a puff executed.

Herb is not harmless. Any thing can be abused to ruin.

You are truly lost.

As a fellow conservative, why in the world would you respond to a simple factual post with a response like this? Pot is non-toxic by scientific definition. It is not physically addictive. These are clinically proven, documented facts.

I just hate it when proven factual statements are attacked emotionally for any reason. The truth is the truth. Ice cream, cookies, candy and cakes are also non-toxic yet I've seen many lives ruined by them. 330+ lb. people that should only weigh 130 lbs. or less and remain in depression because of their obesity can be dangerous.

If you think for a second that some of these people won't lie, cheat and steal in order to get their 'fix' then you are mistaken. I'm not saying that pot is harmless. I'm only saying that telling a poster they are "lost" for stating facts is not adhering to conservative values.

Thanks for your good works Steven and welcome to Free Republic.

You approve of the drug war absent Constitutional authority. Where did you think all this Mission Creep in law enforcement came from? The various War on * all started with your War on Drugs.

The militarization of police forces across the country is a direct result of the War on (some) Drugs.

Marijuana can actually be VERY addictive, especially since the THC content has increased from approx 1% to often 30%. This has been documented time and time again (see I can do it too).
Marijuana today, compared to Marijuana of the 60’s is what crack is to cocaine.
To flippantly call it a “non-toxic flower” is at best misleading, at worst flat out lying.

Exactly. But you MUST be a “liberaltarian” if you want that to end. If you want the War on Guns to End. The War on Individualism. The War on Sanity. The War on Constitutional Law. The War on Private Property. The War on Poverty. The War on Fat. The War on Sugar. The War on common morals. The War on Marriage. The War on Tobacco...

Want any of that to end, you are just a goddamn “liberal” in GeronL’s, eyes apparently. You just want drugs for 2 year olds or whatever idiotic twisted pejorative their little Nanny State mind can come up with.

Being anti-government overreach in no way makes you pro-vice. No matter how much they want to paint us that way.

This one issue goes right to the Heart of that which killed our Republic. From this, all else has metastasized. Myopia and short sighted insults aren’t going to help.

Toxicity is still what it was. You would need to ingest/smoke nearly your body weight in THC for it to be toxic.

As for addiction, it is no more addicting than any other pleasurable act. There is no other chemical hook other than your own pleasure receptors, unlike cocaine which does.

Is it good for you? No. But it is a lot less bad for you than say hard alcohol. It also has some positive side effects for those dealing with chemo, glaucomo, etc...

Either way, it isn’t something the FedGov was given an Art 1 Sec 8 power to interfere with. Leave it to the States.
