So much for the great trucker-tea party alliance.
Barely a week after conservative activists were counting on a massive protest by truck drivers to snarl the Beltway and bring President Barack Obama to heel, the head of the nations largest trucking industry organization denounced the right-wing movement Monday as a corrosive force that threatens the business communitys ties to the GOP.
Whats most alarming is the collapse of the Republican Party and the emergence of the conservative wing of the party, most often referred to as the Tea Party, and its emergence as a very corrosive force, American Trucking Associations President Bill Graves a former Republican governor of Kansas said at a group conference in Orlando, Fla.
His words are the latest example of the business communitys growing frustration with tea party Republicans in Congress. The government shutdown knocked an estimated $24 billion off the nations gross domestic product, and the willingness of some Republicans to default on the nations debt alarmed business leaders.
Dont get me wrong, Graves said, while its appropriate, and there is certainly merit in advocating for reduced government spending, smaller government, reducing our debt, limiting regulations and controlling the reach and intrusive nature of the federal government insisting on having things their way, without a hint of willingness to compromise and threatening to burn the house down otherwise, is a combination of foolish, ill-advised, reckless and detrimental actions to the future of this country.(continued)

Dropped Cali from my operating authority. Years ago.
He doesn’t speak for the drivers. When are the country club Republicans going to realize that they could benefit from the Tea Party folks? Instead of fighting, we should be working together.
Put a lid on it. Ted Cruz and the conservatives won this fight. And we all knew it wasn’t going to take more than a week to prove them right. The website is the first big mess. Wait until the wave of new open enrollment forms washes across the country over the next few weeks. Employees from coast to coast will be hit with new plans, more expensive plans, plans without their doctors, increased premiums, higher deductibles, or they will be sent to the exchanges. It won’t be pretty.
Well, from Salina (Graves’ home) East, it is going demo-commie. We conservatives out here in western Kansas are losing the population battle.
Probably will become a blue state when I check out. Not claiming I am keeping it red, but I will turn a bad color when Kansas goes blue.
