Understanding of world history... when Rome fell the Church filled in the void and Christianity exploded.
Even Russia has begun to reverse it’s population implosion and started to move in the right direction since the fall of the USSR.
On the other hand... the slow decline of Japan and China is going to be ugly at a whole new level, as their average age tops 50 and then 60.

What makes you believe there would be an opportunity to start over?
If you're not capable of such a belief, the war is already over and all is lost. If we can't prevail and start over, we'll simply continue to be slaves to the government.
Believing that we can start over will be the central theme of the resistance/revolution, IMO.
