Utah has been helping to elect Republican Presidents, or at least voting for them, as long as I can recall ( don’t understand why they dropped Goldwater!) That’s as much as I need to know. On the other hand, the white-shirted, polite missionaries who knock on so many doors around the country may be the face of Mormonism that kept many home in 2012( I heard it from one person, anyway).

Mormon doesn’t have anything to do with why he lost in 2012. He doesn’t know how to ask for votes, and worst of all, he ain’t interested in hearing what conservatives want from him.
He won the Republican candidacy but then did something really stupid: he failed to be a politician, and turned his back on the very people who go out and get folks to the polls - the fundamentalist Christians.
When you are a candidate, you have to ask people to vote for you. He should have called Sarah Palin and asked for a meeting; he did not. Big mistake! Few of the Republicans who work to get out the vote for Republicans did so this time around.
Has he changed? No, I don’t believe he has at all.
