If Obama Attempts Amnesty, Wouldn't You Think The GOP Will Take It To The Supreme Court?

Posted on 11/05/2014 6:32:08 PM PST by Cruz_West_Paul2016

And how come no one has brought this up? The GOP already took Obama-Care and a few other matters to the Supreme Court over the last few years. So why not take this matter to the Supreme Court. Mitch McConnell would become a hero if he and Boenher take a stand and threaten the President that they will take the issue to the Supreme Court and they will make the final decision on whether to let 5-10 Million Illegals become legal. (and god knows hows many are criminals).

And give John Roberts a deciding vote.

Boy howdy, there’s a good idea!

Absolutely and thats what they SHOULD do. I would settle for the SC ‘clarifying’ the law however. Takes it off the future table. And THEN nail him with the decision in hand.

None of the courts business. The remedy is impeachment. Amnesty = Impeachment. Period.

Precisely. How did we get to the point where someone in Boehner's capacity would want to "sue" a sitting President as though Congress was a powerless bystander who had been run over by the presidential limousine? What part of the concept of the three branches of government being co-equal do Americans not understand? The congress is at least equal to the judiciary in power and tools necessary to take action. It does not need to defer or surrender its authority to the judiciary in order to effect necessary change. Congress is NOT the conceptual equivalent of a private citizen. It has within its own purview the ability to effect change on its own, per the Constitution.

I wouldn’t trust this to the SC. Roberts is Obama’s man.

Boner and Mitch would be more successful by calling for an uprising.

Texas could simply say “They’re not coming across our border.”

Republican power is diminished by the weak leadership in each house.

For Presidential high crimes, the Congress IS the Supreme Court.

No court in the land would hear a case brought because Congress was afraid to do its duty.

Exactly. Impeachment is the remedy outlined in the Constitution, if it is still relevant.

The republicans did not run on anything let alone make any promises. I suspect they are not going to do much outside of keeping their jobs.

The party didn't run on anything. But every single winning Republican Senatorial candidate ran on a.) repealing Obamacare and b.) resisting any amnesty for illegal aliens.

Article 1, Clause 4

CONGRESS has the EXCLUSIVE power of naturalization.

Of course, Obama won’t let this be a obstacle to his squeezing everything he can.

Bravo! I am so SICK of everything coming down to the Supreme Court. I’m sorry but I don’t remember anything in the U.S. Constitution about some 8 person Oligarchy being in control of this country. Congress needs to take back and use the power given them in the constitution.

I think that 11 million number on illegal aliens is a farce. They’re saying 11 million so it doesn’t sound as bad as it really is.

I’m guessing three times that number of illegals, maybe more.

If I remember correctly, that 11 million figure was a false result from the 2000 census and came out of the GAO office. An investment firm did an analysis (I think it was Smith Barney) around that time and used actual transaction records linked to cross border monetary transfers from illegals in the U.S. wiring cash back home to Mexico and other South American countries. Smith Barney came up with something like 35 million illegals—and that was in the year 2000! I would believe the investment firm’s analysis before I would believe the stupid census takers. From that figure you can imagine what the illegal population actually is today. Lies and more lies.

The negativity on this site is pathetic....what good does it do?

This issue was discussed on Fox.

Private citizens and groups will have to take it to court.
The Supreme Court refuses to get involved in disputes between the Legislature and the President.

Congress can and will control the purse strings, however

They can also teach the American public what a joke this guy is

They should not impeach the evil, anti-American thug in our White House. It’s best not to say that impeachment is off the table, but it’s off the table. The remaining democrats in the Senate are too corrupt and treasonous to remove Obama from office, and it’s both politically and morally wrong to start an impeachment battle with no prospect of victory. The correct answer is to use the power of the purse aggressively to rein in Obama’s criminal activities.

Amnesty? Defund any Amnesty actions. Approve spending line items that are so narrow they cannot be used for Amnesty. Defund aggressively, both because it’s the right thing to do in general with an over-sized FedGov, and because it will prevent actions to destabilize our country with even more illegal immigrants.
