Please.
God.
No!
Lose[sic] cannon Rand is no more likely to be POTUS than the Jebster.
Rand has been burning some bridges of late and making some statements that are just shameless pandering to the left.
Libertarians are not right or left. I like him and I get his libertarian leanings. He is not pandering.
Well.....there are a lot of things that are going to come up that makes his prior utterings about Amnesty, Legalization, etc. a moot point.
Look for Boehner and McConnell to push through an Amnesty bill that won’t be called “Amnesty”. It will be some dubious name under Immigration Reform, but it will legalize (immediate or otherwise, i.e., The Pathway!) ALL of the illegals in this country. They’ll do this before 2016 to get that issue out of the way for Jeb Bush to be Excellent in the Field of Excellence and win the Presidency. Boehner will have a hefty cushion, and only 1/3 or the Senators will be up for grabs. They are gonna do it. If you don’t think so, look at the last two months.
He’s already running. Look at statements on every topic which comes up and appearances outside of ky
New guy in our fellowship group last sat. Ron paul
I will not vote for The Son of Franken-Crackpot.
He’s hedging. I like him as a Senator, but he’s right about any run for the Presidency being quixotic.
Considering that he won’t be allowed to be on the KY ballot for both President and Senator* he’d be a fool to run for the Presidency. He’s got no shot at the nomination, and would have to surrender his Senate seat to do so.
(* by that I mean he’ll actively be prevented from being on the ballot twice by the legal maneuverings of the KY Dem machine. Grimes is still Secretary of State and in a position to so limit him by launching endless suits that would run down the clock to him gaining ballot access)
He most certainly was pandering and yes there is a “right” and “left” whether you wish to believe it or not. I’d vote for him but his statements on voter id have been just stupid and yes pandering to the far left which in polling data are the only ones who think voter id is a bad idea though it doesn’t address the problem with motor voter granting ids to non citizens. He is right that we need to engage minorities but we need not engage them by affirming leftist claims of voter suppression nonsense. Also his behavior and rhetoric in the Ferguson case was off base. I love guy in so many ways but we need a candidate that will challenge people with a different vision of liberty and constitutionalism not affirm Democrat class warfare tactics.
He will draw a large vote from disenfranchised people like my daughter who tends to like the Libertarian label at this point in her life. She is educated, not a political junkie or as informed as her dear mom, but very independent. I give her input and she listens but I even like to listen to Rand Paul despite not loving all his positions.
So long as he runs AWAY, no problem...
Rand Paul’s been running for the presidency since he was elected to the Senate in 2010. He won with the significant help of the KY tea party after beating Trey Grayson in the primary. Grayson, ironically enough, had been endorsed by McConnell. His aspiring to be president is why he betrayed the KY tea party last year by supporting McConnell instead of Bevin in the primary. He thinks he needs McConnell’s support to attain his ambitious goal. Paul obviously places his desires ahead of his constituents.
Rand Paul is running but he won’t be much of a factor. He has already defeated himself with his kooky foreign policy stands and his bromance with Al Sharpton.
I just hope he keeps on talking so people will see how nutty he really is.
Six months ago I would have said definitely he was going to run, but now I’m less certain. I think his support has significantly eroded since last November and was not very deep to begin with.
Is he allowed in KY to run for Senate if he is running for Prez?
If not, he will not officially file.
First things first. He has to retain his career politician position in the Senate.
I’m a Cruz guy for president and registered as an independent. As a former libertarian I like the Paul’s but on foreign policy and abortion, can’t agree.
I agree with your comments about ky. He’s too young to leave the senate
he can never win...NEVER... but may become a spoiler like his daddy. Its a shame he has followers...but it appears many have broken away. Hope so.
Like so many other faux wannabe’s Paul can run but he can’t hide...
Cruz 2016!
I believe the answer is no, at least currently.
There is talk of changing the law in Indiana to let Mike Pence attempt the double.
