Walker aide fires off epic 40-tweet tweetstorm after resigning following just one day on the job

An aide to Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's (R) likely presidential campaign resigned late Tuesday night just a day after her hire was announced.

Liz Mair, who was a digital strategist for Walker, came under a storm of criticism for her advocacy for some relatively liberal policy positions and colorful tweets that critics claimed were insulting to Iowans.

"In other news, I see Iowa is once again embarrassing itself, and the GOP, this morning. Thanks, guys," Mair wrote about a January event hosted by conservative Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), according to the Associated Press. "The sooner we remove Iowa's front-running status, the better off American politics and policy will be."

Some conservatives were not pleased with her hire. The chairman of the Iowa Republican Party, Jeff Kaufmann, called on Walker to dismiss Mair and the right-leaning site Breitbart News ran a sharply critical story about her support for immigration "amnesty."(continued)

It was not a fatal move on Walker's part. There will be positives and negatives in the future.. Right now I support Walker, he did a good job in Wisconsin. Walker being new to national politics will make mistakes of this nature and hire the wrong people. Maybe he has not learned yet just how Machiavellian national politics has become. May God bless him and teach him the path to saving our nation.

Even though she is probably right about the fact that Iowa should not be the “lead dog” for the GOP presidential race, she needs to be canned for tweeting it out there. The truth is not a defense in this instance.

Walker has done an outstanding job. Only Reagan comes anywhere close. So a little miss here and there is no biggie. And most likely

Here she is:

1) The Pat Benatar haircut looked a lot better on Pat Benatar.

2) Other pictures reveal not much of a rack. She's not a troll, but ...

I think this whole episode was pure political theater designed to impress the base. Note the lightning speed with which this occurred.

Having said that, I support Walker, as well as my first choice Ted Cruz and any other non-squish.

Exactly... I like walker, but someone like this, should have never gotten the job to begin with... hopefully its a lesson learned before the presidential running begins in earnest.

Walker gets moved to the right again, this time on his Iowa hire.

Don’t get me wrong, as some on this site have done. He’s a decent candidate. But Walker is not ready for prime time.
