Iowa Kingmaker Ditches Huckabee: He Sounds Like Hillary; I’m Going with Cruz
Mediaite ^ | May 8, 2015 | Andrew Kirell

Despite his socially-conservative bona fides, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has officially lost the support of Iowa’s influential talk radio host Steve Deace — a dramatic shift from their supportive relationship in the 2008 Republican Party primaries.

Deace has been described as a “hitmaker” and “one of the most powerful Republicans you’ve never heard of” because his stumping for Huckabee was seen as a substantial contributor to the former governor’s 2008 Iowa caucus victory.

But, in 2016, Deace is not thrilled with Huckabee’s support for entitlement programs. As MMfA first reported, during the May 6 edition of the Steve Deace Show, the radio host tore into the former Fox News host’s pro-entitlement views, calling it “the basis for a permanent welfare state.”

The bigger blow came when Deace compared Huckabee’s announcement speech — rife with references to social safety nets — to Hillary Clinton, saying the two political opposites now seem interchangeable. If Clinton delivered the speech, Deace said, it would have “gotten the same amount of applause.”

He also said the Huckabee speech sounded a lot like “the last man who ran for president from Hope, Arkansas,” i.e., Bill Clinton.

And so Deace’s candidate of choice for 2016? Ted Cruz.

Deace is on top of things. Huckabee was a reasonable choice when the alternatives were McCain, Romney and Giiuliani, etc. Right now, he offers weak tea with no coherent underlying philosophy, and the fact that he was a governor, and therefore has poliical executive experience.

Huckabee may be a likable folksy guy, but he has no chance of winning.

Yes, but he will have to be dismissed early, because he takes votes out of the hides of those who are more deserving.

Deace is making a mistake. Cruz can't win according to the GOPe morons and DemoProg media. Just ask Karl Rove ("You malignant bastard!") or anyone at the NYT or WaPo.

Funny how they are on the same page when it comes to Cruz.

Nice graphic, but also don't forget Monica's warning:

"The last president we had from Hope, Arkansas left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Monica Lewinsky is walking down the beach.

She sees something in the sand.

She picks it up. It is a lamp.

She rubs the lamp. It starts to glow and out pops a genie.

The genie says: “Monica, you have been naughty in the past so you only get one wish!”

Monica thinks about this. She has packed on a few pounds so she looks at the genie and says: “I want to get rid of my love handles!”

The genie says: “Your wish is my command!”

And POOF!!! Her ears disappear!

Mike Huckabee’s views have “evolved”. He is no longer the country-boy populist he was pictured as in 2008, when his message resonated at a visceral level with so many of the evangelicals and vaguely anti-establishment libertarians. Never much of a conservative, Huckabee is more of a “get-along, go-along” sort of compromiser that could not be counted upon to repeal ineffective legislation, but would work to help “fix” the existing rather rickety framework.

Go for the real thing, Jeb Bush.

I do hope Huckabee meets his Waterloo in Iowa (pun intended) if not before.

“Huckabee is a joke.”

A bad joke, indeed. He’s in it to spoil it and pave the was for a RINO.

Wonder what he was promised? Fox news gig for life?
