The collapse of Walker has been amazing.
IMO he turned to the GOPe big donors for Money and they insisted on too much ‘moderation’ from him.
OTOH Trump’s candidacy might have hurt him like it has hurt Jeb and Rubio by drawing conservatives AND moderates. Conservatives were always going to be divided but GOPe candidates expected the ‘moderates’ all to themselves.

I have been pushing the kingmaker scenario ever since Trump got in the race. I don’t believe for a minute he has the desire to give up the life he has to assume the life and restrictions of the presidency.

Cruz is an extremely astute guy who really understands what is important to flyover country. In other words a populist conservative who has shown he will stand up against the corrupt leadership. He is going to be among the last standing and is very smart to be beneficiary of the Trump base.

...leaving them less time to destroy other conservatives they need before the primaries.
********************************
There’s only one Conservative in the race: Ted Cruz.

Walker, Rubio, Carson and Paul each are conservative on some issues but squishy on more social issues. ....JMO

3rd in Iowa isn’t at all bad for Cruz anyway. Walker should be walking away with Iowa.

No, it’s not, and I’m sure he’ll do better, but he’s got to break out of the pack if he’s not going to ride coat tails. He would be strong in the south anyway, he needs to be higher in places like IA and NH to not lose traction. And you’re right about the #s of people who saw the debate. Fox’s last Repub debate from 2012 cycle was 6 million. The most recent was 24 million.

The primaries are a long way off but... IMO he could come in 2nd to 4th in the early ones and maintain traction if he wins many of the southern ones.
That’s when it gets VERY interesting at Free Republic LOL!
Then Trump will no longer be helping Cruz but will be in direct confrontation with him.
Boy are we going to have some arguments!

And either will have to make some kind of deal with the GOPe at that point. Whoever makes the ‘best’ will end up the nominee- by ‘best’ I mean toughest on the GOPe.

Lots of fun to come.

Silly Vet. I gave Reagan a donation to run and worked on his western campaign and as a volunteer policy vote while he was in the White House. I WAS ahuge Cruz supporter early on. I recognize his Constitutional bona fides. I am very knowledgeable about his mentor Robert George. He will help destroy the economy even further with his apparent ignorance on trade and employent economic issues. He, like Trump, should consult with Jeff Sessions on these matters. Cruz is exhibiting an arrogance about non-Constitutional issues.

I believe that all of those angry voters out there are motivated by other things beyond what Cruz offers. The angry Trump voter could care less about Cruz’s filibuster of Obamacare. I wouldn’t be surprised if a majority of them were against any type of government shutdown. Unfortunately the angry conservative voter may seem big around these parts, but in the totality of it all, it is real small. I believe we are seeing something else. You might say this is the rise of the middle or even something off the American political scale. These angry voters do not like liberals, and have no use for those calling for smaller government, they really do not care. Trump wants to bring their jobs back from China, kick out the day laborers from Home Depot’s parking lot, tell the liberals where to stick their political correctness, and make sure nobody touches their entitlements. This is what the majority want to hear. I’m honest enough to know that my brand of small government conservatism will be wandering the wilderness for the next few years. Cruz and his brand of politics is not going to get these voters. Trump is the candidate that have feared for years, he is the culturally conservative, fiscally liberal one that is a killer to conservatism, and a killer to the progressives, a least one silver lining. He is the old New Deal democrat with the flat top haircut on the 4th of July. These angry voters are calling for Harry Truman, not Ronald Reagan.

TED CRUZ BIO: elected senator in 2012 and is the first Hispanic or Cuban American to serve as a U.S. Senator representing Texas.[5][1][6] He is the chairman of the subcommittee on the Oversight, Agency Action, Federal Rights and Federal Courts, U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee.[7] He is also the chairman of the United States Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Space, Science and Competitiveness, U.S. Senate Commerce Committee.

On March 23, 2015, Cruz announced he would run for the Republican Party nomination in the 2016 U.S. Presidential election at Liberty University.

Between 1999 and 2003, Cruz was the director of the Office of Policy Planning at the Federal Trade Commission, an associate deputy attorney general at the United States Department of Justice, and domestic policy advisor to U.S. President George W. Bush on the 2000 Bush-Cheney campaign. He served as Solicitor General of Texas from 2003 to May 2008, after being appointed by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott.[8]

Cruz was also an adjunct professor of law at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, from 2004 to 2009.[12][13] While there, he taught U.S. Supreme Court litigation.[12] Cruz is one of three Senators of Cuban descent.[14]

Cruz was the Republican nominee for the Senate seat vacated by fellow Republican Kay Bailey Hutchison.[15] On July 31, 2012, he defeated Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst in the Republican primary runoff, 57%–43%.[16] Cruz defeated former state Representative Paul Sadler in the general election on November 6, 2012. He prevailed 56%–41% over Sadler.[16][17]

On November 14, 2012, Cruz was appointed vice-chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.[19] (WIKI)

Doubt Perry will endorse Trump- and if there’s Jeb/Rubio in the race, that’s where Walker goes— But, I wasn’t talking about them— I was talking about their supporters.

Their supporters don’t go to Trump, if Trump has savaged their candidate.

Their supporters will go to Trump if Trump is winning, and their guy has bitten the dust. I personally could not be a bigger doubter on the whole Trump candidacy, but if he is last man standing, I’m with him too. Even though I believe I can see through his charade, I acknowledge he has the ability and potential to take this all the way.

“If and when Trump leaves the race”...." Go Donald, elect Cruz!"

Asinine. What the hell are they smoking? Why would someone who leads in the polls and is going full bore w/ a $18 billion warchest.....decide to give it all up? Trump isn't just inside the GOPe/Rat/Media OODA loop...he's taken control of it. He's setting the pace.

Cruz is saddled w/ Washington insider political baggage......wait til that gets out.

Why would they endorse Bush? He can't help them and NEVER stumped for one candidate after he left the Governors Mansion in Florida.

He is not electable as the polls are showing. ‘Anyone but Bush’ is running neck and neck with ‘No Bush's Allowed’ and right behind ‘Stay out da Bush's’. Jeb! Bush has 100% name recognition of that 75% will not vote for him under any condition including 30% of the Republicans.

Walker NEEDS a government job his personal balance sheet is in worse shape than the Federal Governments.

The only way to acceptability for Perry is through a stint in a successful presidential administration. He isn't going to have one, so he better darn well get on the side of someone who will.

As it stands NOW and probably after Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. Trump will have a double digit lead over his next nearest competitor who will be Carson or Cruz, both of whom are anti-establishment outsiders.

Bush started out with a massive advantage in name recognition, money and polling lead only to end up in single digits within seven weeks of announcing. By the time Iowa comes around he may be beaten by Lyndsey Graham.

Why would they not endorse Graham, he is as likely the nominee as Bush.

Everyone seems to think that at some point even with victory in grasp Trump will pull out because of the need to devote full time to his businesses. I can’t seem him pulling out unless he loses the early primaries and cauci.

I remember reading that Jebbie came into NC in 2014 to campaign for that liberal Republican Senate candidate whose name escapes me at the moment. Thom, something?

Why? They aren't going to win and he needs a job. His term is up in 2017 and he needs a paycheck. He is basically bankrupt without a six figure job. Rubio isn't going to win Bush isn't going to win.

30% of the Republican base wouldn't vote for either of them due to their immigration stance alone. Add in Bush's bad name and board membership on a group sending millions to Baby Killers and Body Parts plus fronting for Common Core and he is lucky to get more than a handful of delegates. Much like Hillary the more people hear from him the lower his polling numbers go.

Rubio may be able to hire Walker if he wins the race for Governor in Florida in three years, but I wouldn't hold my breath, by that time Walker would have already declared bankruptcy as the lobbyist jobs in Madison don't pay enough to support his massive spending habits.

In the mean time Rubio will also be desperate for a six figure job as he will be in need of income as well. He isn't exactly flush with cash either. The most likely place to cool his heals in comfort while making a bid for governor is in a Trump administration.

Primitive thinking. More likely is Cruz is now running for President in 2020. Trump will only sacrifice 4, and his brilliant veep will be perfectly positioned to run and win.

Trump / Cruz 2016

The pipe dream is.... at some point even with victory in grasp Trump
will pull out because of the need to devote full time to his businesses...

More evidence of the one-dimensional world some people live in.

Trump's got armies of execs micro-managing his affairs.

His far-flung businesses are well-taken care of.

Wow, 2014, years after he left office in Florida and all his help and he still was only able to deliver a whopping 1.5% more votes for Tillis over Kay Hagan. Must have been all those RINO’s Bush was able to herd into the poling booths.

Yet mush like the average Bush, he couldn’t deliver a majority victory. Tillis 48.8%: Hagan 47.3% 3.9%: Stay Out Da Bush’s!
