Rand Paul is right: Cruz's career in the Senate is "done for." Once he leaves, he can become a full-time grafter.
Im not sure when it started, but at some point the Republican Party ceded the business of governance to the Democrats. Maybe it began with the Tea Party movement or Fox News or the larger conservative media-industrial complex I honestly dont know. But its clear now that the GOP is no longer a legitimate governing party. A party that allows rank neophytes like Herman Cain and Donald Trump and Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina to run for the highest office in the country has lost its way.
If you look at how the Republican Party operates today, its hard to avoid the conclusion that governing just isnt a priority or internal pressures within the party make it impossible. Instead, the GOP has become what I previously called a self-perpetuating hype machine for conservative political entrepreneurs. Particularly at the national level, Republican candidates and legislators (many of them, at least) show no interest in compromise or serious policymaking, which is what youd expect from a party of and for purists.
While the new GOP has been bad for the country, its been great for political celebrities, people looking to promote their personal brands. Ted Cruz is the most recent and obvious example of this approach to politics. Cruz has been a remarkably ineffective Senator. He has done nothing but bloviate and showboat on the Senate floor. Hes accomplished zero legislatively. His only practical contribution has been to obstruct and draw attention to his martyrdom (read: presidential) campaign.
Ted Cruz will never be elected president. If he manages to win the Republican nomination, hell lose in a landslide to a Democrat, whoever that happens to be....

Ron is only slightly less nuts than his dad.
Kiss of Death for Rand Paul.
Salon must really be worried about Cruz.
The author’s name is slightly mispelled. It’s Shilling.
“A party that allows rank neophytes like Herman Cain and Donald Trump and Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina to run for the highest office in the country has lost its way.”
Guess that wouldn’t include community organizers...
Maybe, but this article does sound like the writer is getting sick the more he writes.
Lefty rag Salon is through the moment Soros stops bankrolling it.
So this Sean Illing nobody presumes to speak for Texas?
I guess he thinks that Rand’s mentor, Yertl can “fire” Ted.
Sen. Cruz really pulled back the curtain in his hour long remarks yesterday on how things are really done in the Senate.
Sorry you little dip S#!+, but Senator Cruz is done when he or the people of Texas decide he is done.
LOLOLOL
The two most frightening words to the left (including Mitch McConnell) are President Cruz.
Dream on, leftist pukes, dream on!
The MSM hate Ted Cruz. Rand Paul knifes him in the back on TV. The MSM love that.

Ouch.
Im not sure when it started, but at some point the Democrat Party ceded the business of governance to the government employee trade unions. Maybe it began with the progressive movement or the Yellow Press or the larger mainstream media complex I honestly dont know. But its clear now that the Democrat Party is no longer a legitimate governing party. A party that allows rank neophytes like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton to run for the highest office in the country has lost its way.
If you look at how the Democrat Party operates today, its hard to avoid the conclusion that governing just isnt a priority or internal pressures within the party make it impossible. Instead, the Democrat Party has become what I previously called a self-perpetuating hype machine for liberal political entrepreneurs. Particularly at the national level, Democrat candidates and legislators (many of them, at least) show no interest in compromise or serious policymaking, which is what youd expect from a party of and for purists.
While the new Democrat Party has been bad for the country, its been great for political celebrities, people looking to promote their personal brands. Sandra Fluke is the most recent and obvious example of this approach to politics. Fluke has been a remarkably ineffective spokesperson. She has done nothing but bloviate and showboat on the TV. Shes accomplished zero politically. Her only practical contribution has been to obstruct and draw attention to her martyrdom (read: congressional) campaign.
Sandra Fluke will never be elected president. If she manages to win any Democrat nomination, shell lose in a landslide to a Republican, whoever that happens to be....
He speaks of the Republicans being a party of purists. Ha, what are planned parenthood, code pink, the extreme climate change environmentalists, radical black nationalists, glbt extremists, and Atzlan crazies?
