Why would any candidate for POTUS who is a real leader depend on the GPOe consultant class parasites? That alone should disqualify the candidate.

Winner! It’s the people you pick to work for you that reveals your judgment.

He gets at least $10 or 20 million dollars of free publicity a day and I might be low on that

BINGO! He doesn't need to do anything but give his speeches, give his interviews, and let this happen on his behalf. Ironically, when Walker was "winning" talk radio, the internet, etc, HE was winning and getting millions a day in publicity too. This is the new Republican Primary...the Rush Drudge Breitbart primary. It's the ONLY way for a non estab to win the nomination, period.

The warning would be, if he says or does anything to run afoul of this group, it will hurt significantly. If Rush would but be a little more balanced, it would in fact IMO.

Can anyone name the last mainstream operative to win an election?

Maybe Ed Rollins for Reagan’s re-election, but he was a Reagan loyalist.

Obama had Axelrod, who certainly was fully loyal to him

As much as we have come to dislike Rove, he was a loyal nobody when W. was elected the first time

Carter had Caddell

Reagan had true believers the first time

Clinton had ‘Serpenthead’

Doesn’t seem to be a secret. Keep the people who got you there . . . at least they bought into you as a person first.

The writer tries hard to pin all the blame on the campaign manager who obviously was either stealing or stupid, but the bottom line is if Walker didn’t know he was paying for 90 people early in the campaign then he deserved to lose. And if he did know he was paying for 90 people he deserved to lose. Either way, it was bad management Walker all the way.

Makes you wonder how Walker "manages" Wisconsin.

In 1984 against Mondale, Reagan could have picked Tiny Tim to run his campaign ;)

(This is for us older Freepers)

A campaign manager is an extension of the candidate, his personality, his values and his experience.

Scott Walker didn’t know how to run a national campaign.

That’s why he flamed out. If he didn’t know how to husband his money and prepare for the long haul, he wasn’t ready for the big leagues.

It didn’t need to turn out this way. Running a campaign with no message, a bloated staff and lack of discipline was a sure fire recipe for failure.

Its a textbook lesson on how not to run for a presidential nomination.

“Makes you wonder how Walker “manages” Wisconsin.”

Yep, TOTALLY CLUELESS as to what was going on around him. Thankfully we Republicans figured that much out before it was too late.

I wonder if this bit of news is relevant:

Rick Wiley, a former Republican National Committee political director who did some work for the Christie-led Republican Governors Association last year, has been hired as a national political adviser by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker...

Wiley worked from 2013 until recently as a managing director in the Washington office of Mercury Public Affairs, the firm where Christie's lead political strategist, Michael DuHaime, is a partner.

Methinks Christie isn't beyond a few dirty tricks to remove the competition.
