Why Trump Was Smart to Skip the Next Debate
Political Wire ^

Donald Trump’s decision to skip the next debate marked yet another unexpected twist in his presidential campaign but probably a very smart political decision.

Trump’s conflict with Fox News started after Trump began bashing moderator Megyn Kelly, whose questions in the first GOP debate he said were unfair. But it quickly turned into the entire network mocking him.

When Trump polled his Twitter followers about whether he should participate, Fox News put out a news release mocking him:

“We learned from a secret back channel that the Ayatollah and Putin both intend to treat Donald Trump unfairly when they meet with him if he becomes president — a nefarious source tells us that Trump has his own secret plan to replace the Cabinet with his Twitter followers to see if he should even go to those meetings.”

That jab was too much and Trump followed his own negotiating advice from The Art of the Deal and walked away from the table. After spending most of his campaign arguing that the world laughs at President Obama because he is a terrible negotiator, it was really Trump’s only move.

Those are my thoughts.

I could see an apology by Fox for the snide remark and $1 mill to Wounded Warriors.

Or Trump doing the WW event elsewhere and doing just fine.

HAD TO BE. Disgusting. Truly. And I don’t even like Trump. He’s not emotionally suited to be president. It sounds like those running FoxNews have lost their minds.

That's fundamentally kicking you candidates butt.

Aw, isn't that cute? You used my screen name in your lame response.

Let me try: You've taken idol worship to new heights. Oh he-he-he!

Oh that is just too funny!

If you're an 11 year old on snapchat. Maybe the publicist could have sent a picture of his weenie too. If the Murdochs don't fire someone, short the stock.

That is sad.

Judging from posts on FR, the anti-Trump and left wing's mantra is "Trump is afraid of Kelly." This is delusional. And they get extremely emotional in pushing it.

...plus he shows Independents that he's not taking crap from Conservative-bastion Fox.

It's a gamble, but he hasn't lost many gambles in the past. The sentence fragment I've copied above shows that you are a better political analyst than most TV professionals.

It is spot on. Brilliant general election move.

“I doubt this will work in his favor, but I see it as a calculated gambit that has the potential for a massive payoff over the long haul.”

He has surprised us before, where something he does that was not in the GOP playbook instead of ruining his campaign increased his numbers.

I can’t wait to see which way this goes.

Either way, he did not allow anyone to use him for a punching bag and followed his principles.

I don’t know if missing it will hurt him or not, but my suspicion is that it will.

Sometimes during the interview process of high paying jobs, the interviewer can and will blindside a candidate with aggression on purpose and without warning, basically turning what might have been expected to be a pleasant interview into an uncomfortable situation.

This is done to test the candidate’s response and his resourcefulness. or hers, for that matter.

If you walk into a doctor’s office to sell him your latest gear, and that doctor is in a foul mood, what are you going to do? How do you get him to open up in spite of negative emotions and salvage your sale?

Got to be able to expect that all factors of a situation may not be aligned in your favor, and you further have to expect that no factors of a situation will be aligned in your favor.

You close one of those sales, then you truly do know about the art of the deal.

You turn around and walk out of that doctor’s office in a huff and thinking boy, that guy is an ahole, you lose that sale.

As a supporter of Trump, I hope you read this post, Mr. trump, and I hope you show up.

If if you show up to the debate and lose, you win more in that scenario than you do with this current proposed scenario.

He’s counting his lucky stars that Trump won’t be there to bring up his eligibility to run for president or any other ‘little white lies’ he’s told in the course of his public political life. (Unless he’s REALLY delusional, I seriously doubt he’s thanking God. God Sees this whole thing.)

And he’s gonna KEEP laying low, telling himself he’s ‘’okay’’, & pretending everything’s fine.

Per Breitbart:
Fox News and Google have invited three YouTube personalities to ask questions at the Jan. 28 GOP debate — including a Muslim advocate who describes Donald Trump as a bigot and who visually portrayed him as being in agreement with national socialist Adolf Hitler.
