News Corp. head Rupert Murdoch weighed in on Saturday night's Republican presidential debate, with questions about Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and Chris Christie.
Murdoch was complimentary of all the candidates on the stage in his first tweet on the subject on Sunday morning, saying all lifted their game.
He then said businessman Donald Trump looked more presidential than he has in past debates, and even gave Rubio a good review, though most thought the Florida senator stumbled amid criticism from Chris Christie that he has simply memorized short speeches on various subjects. Murdoch did mention that shortcoming.
Murdoch liked Cruz, but worried about the fact that his Senate colleagues don't seem to like him. He saw former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush as strong.
He didn't seem impressed with Christie's attacks, including on Rubio. But he did like Ohio Gov. John Kasich and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson....

If Cruz ever became president he would be a lame duck on day one. He’d have to govern through executive actions just like bambi. He seems to be more hated among republicans than democrats.
Not true. No matter who wins, the GOP congress would back him or risk getting voted out in the next election.
Um, “Bambi” got Obamacare through the congress without one Republican vote, as I recall. Even FDR, Clinton and LBJ can’t claim that.
If his colleagues don’t like him, maybe they do trust him.
Exactly: he doesn’t play the game or go along to get along.
Trump, for example, would never have been able to build his business the way that he did if he blindly trusted people. If Trump becomes president then I look forward to him firing all the incompentent people in the executive branch, at least the higher-ups.
Precisely!! He is not a GOP-e and they can’t stand him... He will make a great President too!!

The problem they have is that they do trust him, to Uphold and Defend the Constitution... not insder perks.
Wicked men will almost always hate good men. The degree of their wickedness is directly proportional to the degree of their hatred. Likewise, godly men hate the things that God hates.
This is no longer a race between conservatism and populism, it really never was. It’s between good and evil. Trump has made clear that he’s an agent of darkness and he’s most rabid supporters love him for it. After all, we’re not electing a pope. They like that he’s scaring whoever it is their mad at. They think he’s going to viciously punish whoever it is. They don’t seem to care who it is anymore since whoever Trump is against that day is who they hate. This complete disregard for rationality has led to zealotry that we haven’t seen in my lifetime. The sooner Trump is back to his orgies, game shows, and bankrupting casinos, the better all of us are.
Hopefully he loses NH. However, if he does defeat the best candidate the Republicans have had since Reagan, it’s still consolation that he will never be president. We really don’t need anymore irrational zealots worshiping a cult of personality in this country.
It is not that they really do not TRUST him. It is that he has been a whistleblower, exposing their corruption. They are vengeful. VERY vengeful. Most are mere puppets to the leadership. They hate Cruz because they are instructed to hate him. He makes them look bad. Their weakness and corruption is exposed and their gravy train threatened.
It is the fate of all whistleblowers unless the truth takes hold and the guilty are held to account. The GOP establishment has been exposed, they are seeing voter rebellion, and they are making Cruz their scapegoat.
The most shameful part is that voters who were championing Cruz’s actions are (some of them) abandoning him now for Trump the flip-flopper, making themselves guilty of the very thing they have faulted the GOP leadership for — compromise for the sake of power over principle (except the wall). Even on immigration Trump is a question mark in that he is going to bring them right back with legal status. On all other conservative issues conservatives are selling out left and right in the name of “making America great again.” I hardly see how we will be great if we are vindictive hotheads who change positions daily like Trump. There is not an issue or person he has not flipped on at least once.
I actually heard one of the most normally solid conservatives in my state on the radio tonight making excuses for Trump’s eminent domain position. I have heard him talk solidly about this issue before. His argument tonight was close to a full 180 from his previous comments.
It is just embarrassing.
Sometimes that’s impossible. A lot of Obama’s appointees will take slightly lower SES positions, just like Clinton’s did when Bush 43 came along.

This is an example of why the insiders and the elite don't like Ted. He exposes them.

Cruz exposes the crony capitalist gravy train that drives D.C. and lines politicians’ pockets. They steal our taxpayer funds and redistribute it to themselves through scams like the ethanol subsidies. How much more crony capitalist does it get when the governor’s own son runs the ethanol business? Cruz’ colleagues know that unlike Mike Lee or Rand Paul, Cruz has the political talent to win the White House. That is why they have to come out and fight against him so hard. Cruz is the only candidate who will truly change the system and reduce the power and wealth of D.C.
Using executive action to create conservative reform would be wonderful.
