Why European Leaders Hate Trump
The Market-Ticker ^ | March 7, 2016 | Karl Denninger

It's really quite simple.

Trump has put on the table a promise to stop them from stealing from the United States.

Yes, stealing.

First, in national defense. Europe steals something around $100 billion in national defense spending that they ought to be spending every year, but we end up covering.

Trump has made clear he intends to put a stop to that crap whether it's Mexico by stopping their citizens, including their drug dealers, from invading the United States or other nations that enjoy our personnel and weaponry protecting their land and people instead of them expending their own money and personnel.

But second, and far more importantly, is found in medical care and drugs which Europe uses to make their "socialized" schemes workable. The national defense theft is tiny by comparison; Europe's theft in this regard, along with the rest of the world, is close to $800 billion annually. That utterly dwarfs the defense spending rip-off; we don't even spend that much in total on national defense in any given year!

Trump is hated for his policies all right -- he's rabidly against those nations stealing from the United States, and justly so, exactly as he is against China stealing from our manufacturing sector.

This is why Europe hates Trump -- he proposes to stop their wholesale theft.

And while he'd have to get Congress to go along with the national defense side when it comes to the health care theft he can stop it in the Executive by merely enforcing existing law against all health-related businesses in the United States.

PS: Between national defense and health care that's roughly a trillion dollars a year President Trump would take out of the "expense" side of the Federal Budget, or roughly a quarter of the total immediately and permanently. The economy would explode upward were this to take place, as would employment and real purchasing power for everyone in America.

The European elite are terrified of Trump because they fear their own citizens will adopt Donald's ideas.

Yep, power to the little people.

European “leaders” are getting kids rapped at swimming polls, women rapped in public squares, and hundreds killed by Muslims.

About darn time. The USA ain’t what it used to be and it’s time to stop pretending we can afford a global Marshall Plan.

The Canadians won’t be thrilled with him either. Big Pharma also gives their socialized medicine program massive discounts on drugs because their U.S. market and be charged to cover it. Once they have to start charging global pricing to avoid reimportation, then the price charged for subsidizing socialized medicine programs must necessarily go up.

I've said for years that if Europe would pay for it's own defense, they wouldn't have so much money to spend on their Idiot Socialist Utopian schemes.

Canada too.

Because Trump is like Andrew Jackson.

We do not need to imagine that Trump is the first crass, obnoxious, profane, but very committed man to run for President in this fashion. Meaning to basically knock the block off of establishment types and the press.

Andrew Jackson was an outside the establishment candidate in his day.

One of his campaign themes was to “Route the Vipers Out,” of Washington DC.

He was known for his very un-PC ways, even for that time, his profanity, his tendency to challenge people to duels, and even brawls.

Yet he won...much to the dismay of insiders at the time and to those wanting a more “appropriate” demeanor for foreign policy.

European leaders did not like him.

But Andrew Jackson won anyway, and in his day was someone who was ushered in on a lot of outrage and anger t the political class of the day.

Trump is pretty much, IMHO, kind of the living embodiement of Andre Jackson in our day.

It's popular sport around the world to hate the US. It's no different than any other type of unwarranted biased hatred, but this kind of hatred is politically correct and societally acceptable.

Trump is the first American politician in awhile who isn't apologizing for the US, and who is sending a message that the US will demand respect and fair treatment in the world. They hate this, and that hate says much, much more about them than about us.

Obama’s willingness to embarrass the US and apologize to the world incessantly did nothing to make them like us more. There is nothing we can do that doesn't hurt us that will make them happy.

Canada threatened to revoke their Canadian patents on their drugs (meaning anyone can make those drugs) if they didn't give Canadians subsidies. That was extortion, and it shouldn't have been tolerated.

Socialism at it's basic level, always devolves down to theft.

This is all great - if Trump actually follows through on it. He has already started back pedaling on immigration and supreme court nominations and we are even in the general election.

I think too many people are letting their legitimate anger and desperation cloud their analysis and judgement.

“The European elite are terrified of Trump because they fear their own citizens will adopt Donald’s ideas.”

They’re terrified of Trump because he’s a businessman and thereby understands the power of money. And, they fear, correctly, that he would stop funds going to any who won’t support his policies or objectives. There’s a saying in the business world; whoever controls the purse strings - controls.

Foreigners are terrified that Trump will hold them accountable for their policies and actions. The great American apology tour ends with Obama.

In some ways, their hatred of him is understandable.

Most men with small hands are envious of the rest of us...

“Trump has put on the table a promise to stop them from stealing from the United States. “......

that’s good enough for me, I’m casting my vote for Trump, at lease for now.

Excellent point.

Same idea as giving your kid free money instead of making him work. Human beings are human beings!

The other thing that is amazing is that Europe is in crisis! The leaders have done a collective piss poor job and the EU has been a joke on the people from the get go (kinda like the entrenched uni party here). So. who gives a rat’s @$$ what the Europeans think of the USA.

Excellent point. We have a single state (California) worth more than the entire Canadian pharmaceutical market and Texas is probably damn close. We also have customs and border patrol protecting Canadian prices by seizing re-imports into the United States.

Stop doing that alone and Big Pharma will have to come up with better strategies than "Just make the Americans pay."

There is an inverse relation to the US being less powerful and approval ratings abroad. Everyone hated the NE patriots when they are winning or any dynasty. They just like to see us taken down a peg. Obama was many many pegs down.
