The Brief: Cruz Moves To Widen Lead Over Trump Among Women
The Texas Tribune ^ | March 31, 2016 | John Reynolds

Ted Cruz made women the focus of his campaigning in Wisconsin, unveiling a Women for Cruz coalition on a day in which his main rival in the GOP presidential race struggled to communicate clearly his position on whether women should be punished for obtaining an abortion should the procedure become outlawed.

"Trump hardly came up at the (Cruz) event, but the subtext was clear," wrote the Tribune's Patrick Svitek. "The billionaire's attacks on Heidi Cruz, which began last week in response to ad from an anti-Trump group that featured the billionaire's wife, have drawn attention to his history of sexist and misogynistic comments — as well as his current struggles to gain traction among female voters."

Cruz is focusing efforts this week on Wisconsin, which votes next week. His push to win over women voters comes as the Texas senator is opening up a gap between him and Trump in support from women. Svitek reported that a new Marquette University School of Law poll shows Cruz with a 10-point lead over Trump among Republican primary voters. Among women, that lead stretches to 15 points....

“But face it....you like Trump’s schtick.”

And just how do you know that, seeing that you know absolutely nothing about me?

For months and months I have heard people speculate on why people like Trump. It is the strangest think I have ever seen. I like Trump, and I don’t think I am all that rare, strictly because of his campaign stands and his boldness in pursuit of them. I repeat, I like Trump because of issues he promotes and his boldness in promoting them. And he has a track record of success in reaching his goals.

Do you really believe that immigration and a wall would be discussed if it were not for Trump. He has forced Cruz into the position he takes on immigration. Cruz did not formerly take those positions on immigration.

There is a vast difference between a businessman making statements about a topic, and an elected official casting VOTES on a bill.

As for giving to liberals, he did. Now, I want you to look me right in the eyes, as it were, and listen carefully so it will sink in; he also gave to Republicans, and he gave more overall to Republicans, and when you factor in the number of years he gave, it does not really amount to all that much. He even donated $5000 to Cruz; he donated to Walker, he donated to all of them. The only puzzling thing about all that is Cruz supporters absolutely refuse, they will not admit, that he donated to both parties, and, according to the FEC, he donated more to Republicans. All the corporations donate to each side. It is the price of doing business with corrupt party officials and corrupt elected representatives in a corrupt system. You do realize that it is all corrupted?

I never once watched his TV show. However, I have seen him discuss the issues regarding the future of the nation and the trade deals for at least thirty years. You want to talk about being consistent? Look up the Oprah Winfrey interview of Trump he did with her in 1988. He said the exact same now that he did way back then. You can look away and just listen and you would think it was an interview he did just yesterday.

I am sad to see that the election is coming down to male vs female, with Trump being identified as “piggish male” and Fiorina and Heidi Cruz campaigning against TRUMP, not against Hillary, not against Obama, and honestly, not even FOR Ted. Heidi thinks she is running, apparently! So if Obama divided the country along racial lines, the Cruz campaign thinks it would be advantageous to divide the country along gender lines. But the Cruz campaign may be wrong to have taken this tactic, especially if Ted has been naughty with hookers, like Eliot Spitzer.

Mrs. Cruz has been working for several years to be the first First Lady of the North American Union, with Ted, of course, being the first President of same. With a commomn currency, NO BORDERS, won’t it be swell?

I did read it, and I take exception to this “Women for Cruz” tactic, one that I see as divisive as any other tactic that seeks to appeal to just one part of voter makeup to vote for a candidate. Identity politics is done, the powers that be just don’t get it yet.

So you are opposed to “Veterans for Trump” or “Farmers for Trump” or “Hispanics for Trump” and the like?

It’s too late for Cruz. If he wanted to change course, he should have on March 15th. But for whatever reason he lost all 6 races. That day destroyed him. He’s done

Yeah, those stupid women. Cruz can’t say he’s been faithful to his wife yet he’s the new darling in the female crowd.

He’s manipulating them for political reasons, preaching on one hand, cheating on the other yet they love it. We’re screwed in this country.

If trump comes up 100 delegates short, he will probably not win the nomination. Cruz thinks he will prevail if that happens. Others think neither would get the nomination. Regardless, Trump is not the inevitable candidate.

Yes I do, because I am not a single-issue voter as is no one else I know.
