John Kasich: GOP 'going to get creamed' if Trump or Cruz nominee

(CNN) — Ohio Gov. John Kasich met with Republican Party insiders on Wednesday as he seeks to convince them his competitors would "get creamed" in the general election.

"They want to make sure they pick somebody who can win in the fall," Kasich said Wednesday on CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFront." "If we pick these two guys, according to virtually all the polls, we are going to get creamed."

Kasich was referring to his primary opponents: Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and GOP front-runner Donald Trump.

Republican National Committee members gathered in Florida this week as the focus on the party's nominating convention intensifies. Each of the GOP campaigns were set to make their own pitches at the gathering, with Kasich and Cruz making theirs personally.

"I don't think the Republicans want to pick somebody who has no appeal to independents and no appeal to conservative Democrats. That's what my appeal is," Kasich said.

Following Trump's win in New York, Cruz has joined Kasich in being mathematically eliminated from securing the nomination ahead of the convention, a CNN analysis shows.

Kasich also touted his performance in the New York primary relative to Cruz, calling the Texas senator's gain's "pretty anemic."

As for his own performance in the New York contest, Kasich quipped, "I won Manhattan. Maybe I can go for mayor."

I would guess someone is paying a lot more than that for him to stay in.

"What would be worse for the GOP, John, would be for them to nominate someone that the voters did not pick."

On the other hand, he does well with liberal Democrats. I think he's running in the wrong party.

watch for "gaffes" now....he's polished off the decent candidates and now he's set to hand the prez to his friend the witch.....

watch him get more and more outlandish, driving people away....

we live in a banana republic...the owners can dance us any which way they want, and we'll obey, because that is what sheeple do...

Kasich, once he was rejected by the citizenry in every state except his own, now sells the lie that Party bosses will make better judgments than citizens.

Isn't that how we got the losing candidates, Romney, McCain, and Dole?

Now, we have to deal with the awful consequences of those 2012, 2008, and prior "Party" leadership decisions, and the stakes are higher.

Although a strong Constitutionalist would be preferable in 2016, considering the above facts, can citizen judgment that the "establishment" needs to be challenged help to right the ship?

Personally, I think Kasich has been creamed a few times in his life....

“Not that there’s anything wrong with that” as Jerry Seinfeld would say.

Gee, John...of the three remaining candidates, which one most closely resembles Romcaindole?

Well I guess your example is OK, but I would have gone with sphincter.

I think Kasick is a desperate sick indiviual, seriously, he’s got mental problems, does he even listen to what he says?

While I agree with your diagnosis, there is no denying that all of the Presidential contenders have at some point had moments where there mouth was disconnected from their brains. I just wish more voters had their brains engaged while the politicians are spout platitudes and promises that are as likely to occur as unicorn hash is on restaurant menus.

John Kasich would be destroyed in a general election because millions of conservatives like me would not vote for him. The first goal of true conservatives should be to destroy the GOPe. That goal is much more important than having an establishment GOP candidate elected.
