Good for Cruz if this is true. I always thought he'd be more effective as an inside man in the Senate, where he can constantly keep McConnell in check.

I don't trust McConnell to support a Trump agenda, so we need a true conservative coalition to challenge McConnell at every turn.

Cruz can lead and grow that coalition, and maybe some day even challenge McConnell for Majority Leader.
