Will 'Pennsyltucky' dance to Trump's tune?

OHIOPYLE, PA.- Judy and her husband Phil, who is in his 29th year of service in the military, along with three other couples who ventured from Pittsburgh to attend an annual craft beer festival held on the fringes of the Pennsylvania state park, all sat in folding chairs, waiting for the event to begin.

They were three hours early, the second in line and well stocked with sunscreen, bottles of water, string cheese, beef jerky, cold beers and a very happy state of mind.

“We come for the atmosphere, the camaraderie, the music, the beer of course, it’s just a very good vibe here,” she said.

Off in the distance the long, long, short, long whistle of the freight train signaled to those at the end of the line they best move away swiftly from the tracks because the CSX line would barrel through in seconds.

All four couples had camped out one mountain top away; they had all met at their local church years ago and instantly formed a deep friendship.

Judy said they don’t avoid talking about politics because they are on the same page; “Look at our local school, they eliminated the role of the valedictorian because it might hurt the feelings of those who came in second or third, they also eliminated the practice of class rank,” she said.

She peeled off a series of other reasons that she is turned off by the direction of the country, then said she had no problem supporting Donald Trump for president. Neither does her husband. Or their friends.

“We are Christians, we all try to lead decent lives, work hard for our successes, look after our children and like to kick up our heels from time to time,” she said as she raised her beer for a toast....

“Pennsyltucky” will support Trump... The problem is Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Crop the corners off Pennsylvania and you have a much better state.

Sound like great people to meet.

Obama would call them "bitter clingers"

I live in western PA and have reported many times of the yard sign count.

I have seen hundreds of Trump signs, but have not seen a single hildabutchbitch sign.

To be fair, I have a friend from Latrobe that has seen a hiLIARy sign, and I have seen two hildabitch bumpers stickers.

I'm sure there are some hildabutchbitch backers in the area, but they are not very vocal, and no one has challenged me over my Trump bumper sticker or yard signs, except for some old lesbo dyke that gave me the finger {from the safety of a passing car}.

In past election cycles, raging demonRATs would be in your face with their version of logical arguments, not this time, haven't seen or heard a peep from nary a one.

Maybe it's my Bible {or my gun}.

GO TRUMP!!!

I would think Trump could make inroads in Pittsburgh. Blue collar working class and Trump's talking points about bringing industrial jobs back should resonate.

If Trump can do well in Pittsburgh, it should carry the state in spite of Philadelphia. Also, Trump's appeal would spill over into neighboring Ohio which is another key state.

In my Westmoreland County neighborhood, there are two families who have had Trump signs up since before the PA Primary. A lot of random Trump signs “around” in yards, on embankments on roads. Out on 136, there are several YUGE handmade Trump signs, and on Rt 30 (near the Allegheny County line) there is a big electronic sign that cycles thru Trump “Make America Great Again.” There is enthusiasm for him (I don’t recall seeing any Romney signs like!).

That’s all anecdotal, but the topic I hear most here is “jobs and the economy.” Too many recent college grads can’t find work; too many 50 somethings laid off and losing hope (and sadly their homes). Things aren’t good. Insanity would be voting in H for MORE of the same.

Trump2016!

The ONLY bumper sticker I have seen to date was “Hillary for Prison!”

I too live in Western PA (Sharpsburg) and my wife and I walk a lot. We see a lot of Bernie signs. We have to this point seen zero Hillary signs. We don’t see any Trump signs either but I wouldn’t put one up myself just because I don’t want my windows broken. On the other hand, we have a farm near Punxy and up in that area we also see lots of Bernie signs. Again zero Hillary signs. And there are lots and lots of Trump signs. I think Trump has a decent shot at winning Pennsylvania.

I was invited (a couple months ago) to a shower held at the Edgewood Country Club. That was the ONLY area where I saw Bernie signs. And I’m talking the houses on road leading to the CC (really upscale).

If Trump can do well in Pittsburgh, it should carry the state in spite of Philadelphia.

It's not so much Philadelphia, which is a lost cause. The bigger issue is the surrounding Philly burbs--Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, and Lehigh counties--and the Scranton area. If Trump could flip a couple of those counties, he could neutralize the Philly vote. I don't know if it is likely though given the recent voting history.

On a recent trip along rte 80 - somewhere past Bellefonte - in farm country, I saw a huge home made sign “Farmers for Trump”. I’ve seen a couple of Trump signs here in Indiana County. A couple of Bernie Bumper stickers. Nothing for Hillary!

I think PA and CT could be in play.

CT is getting hammered by taxes, GE moved out because of this, people are finally connecting the dots.
