The Anderson voters all voted that way precisely because they wanted to vote against Carter but were terrified about Reagan. My guess is they would gave stayed home rather than vote for RWR.
If current trends hold we’ll see Trump win a 4-way race 50-45-4-1. That will be a huge electoral majority and fine by me.
Incidentally, most Republicans were as terrified of RWR back in 1980 as they are about Trump today.
I’m not trying to pick an argument with you, we both want the same thing and I’d be satisfied with a 5-point win as well. However, even if all the Anderson voters stayed home, then Reagan wins roughly 55-45. The total votes stay the same but the percentages change.
