Actually, Biden’s right. A lot of RINO’s are frozen right now, afraid to antagonize Trump supporters but in their hearts, supportive of much of the progressive agenda, especially open borders.

Post-Trump, they will revert to type if they can manage it politically.

No, Biden is wrong.

I did some checking into the common Twitter canard quacked by the Lefties that "the parties in the South flipped" and "the old racist Southern Democrats became Republicans".

This is a lie that is promoted by most college professors [because they're Lefties].

Here's what ACTUALLY happened, and this is why Joe is full of Mitt:

BOTH the Democrat and the Republican parties are minority parties [they hang at about 30-some percent]. The reason the Republicans are competitive is because the [real, not NeverTrump] conservatives vote with them most of the time.

If you examine the presidential voting records of the South around the time of GHW Bush through the first term of his son GW Bush, you'll see that the campaigns of Ross Perot made a huge reveal of the Southern non-racist conservatives.

They voted for PEROT, not Poppy Bush, nor yet Rapin Bill Clinton, especially in the 1990 campaign.

After the conservative dream of fiscal prudence died with Perot's second campaign, the real conservatives continued to vote Republican, making the South Republican.

The same racist Democrats are still there, slowly dying out in the rural districts, or holed up on the South's Big City plantations.

=======================

This leads me to my point - if Trumpism fails, the REAL conservatives won't vote Republican. Something else will happen, and it's likely to be dangerous.

“Post-Trump, they will revert to type. . .”

It happened after Reagan. George HW Bush purged the conservative and filled his administration with moderates, ending the Reagan revolution. His son, called himself a “compassionate conservative, but in office behaved as an establishment moderate.

The grassroots Tea Party movement gave the GOP controller of the House in 2010. Instead of embracing it, GOP Speaker Boehner despised it and suppressed its agenda. In 2012 GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney refused the help of the Tea Party and ran away from it.

If Trump doesn’t build an organization to control the party when he leaves office, the GOP will immediately revert to form. Now whose relative is head of the RNC? Kevin McCarthy from California, isn’t he in line to be Speaker if the GOP regains the House? Isn’t the wife of Mitch McConnell in Trump’s cabinet? How’s that Senator Burr from Jessie Helm’s state doing these days? What’s Mitt Romney up to these days? Hmmm.
