I post this to all freepers who are as aghast as I am at what is happening with regard to Terri Schiavo. I remember seeing an earlier post along the lines of "why-don't-we-pay-off-Terri's-husband"; does anyone know what became of this idea? I know it's an out-there idea, but I really think it would work. Are there any very rich freepers reading this who could get an emergency fund-raising effort going? Please, God, touch the heart of someone reading this.

The Schindlers tried that, to no avail. The "husband" responded that if the parents were to have custody of Terri, they would not carry out her wish to die ...
They offered him everything they had ...

Won't work.
He is (probably) going to sign a 'Book Deal' worth possibly millions. (Anyone here doubt this)?
Nothing we could give him would be enough.
He sees dollar signs that you cannot offer him. In fact, once he realizes that his current girlfriend (as the Mother-Of-His-Children) stands to get a portion of any future monies...well...she really should consider making her own 'Living Will'....not kidding.

In addition to a potential book deal just mentioned (or TV movie), the fact remains that if Michael gives up his guardianship and Terri regains coherence, she'll be able to attest to the degree of verbal and physical abuse many people believe she sufftered in the years leading up to her collapse.
She also might have repressed memories of some of the God-awful things I suspect Mikey might have said to her while she was just lying there all these years.
It's not gonna happen.
