Thanks for the scanner links.

I am in Ohio.

I was talking to my sister in Pasedena, CA, relaying to her the information that Rt. 18 is backed up for 30 miles, and that the way out of Big Bear area is Rt. 38.

She passed that along, via cell phone, to her ex-hubby who was just leaving Big Bear ... 'round 15 minutes ago.

It's still smokey around Granada hills? Stevenson Ranch may go up. Channel 4. I work in Calabasas. Ash all over there this morning. I tried to pick up some ash to put under a scope. It's so light it falls apart. It fell all day. Tomorrow I'll X-ray it. It has a nice crystal structure.

KOGO interviewing Maj Gen of Air Natl Guard.

Why didn't they fly Sat & Sun?. Had to get permisson Sat afternoon, and couldn't fly Sunday because of the winds.

Can't fly anymore tonight - too dangererous in night, and the C130 are all coming tomorrow. 8 C130's are coming tomorrow.

2 C130's were flying in Simi Valley - the governors and the Forest Service call. Mr. Snodgrass(who's he) didn't make the call until too late, says KOGO guy.

This gal on Ch.4 seems a little close to the fire and smoke to me. Shouldn't Chuck Henry's burned out truck sitting there be a warning she should heed?!

"His elderly Aunt is in bad shape physically, and mentally, and in Julian. He can't get a hold of her. I hope she got out."

Oh my God... the elderly. I hope kids are taking care of their parents. There must be alot of activity on FR because my whole system is really really slow.

Drove to 38 on Bryant. 8 miles from my house to 38 crossing upper Yucaipa valley. Did not drive down 38 as the cars coming off the mountain is massive. Turned around in the parking lot of the ranger station. Saw news vans at the intersection...channel 7..and two others. Police visible in the area...noticed fire vehicles, support stuff in the area...saw more horse/stock trailers than one would normally see, just parked by homes like they are just waiting to move if necessary. Lots of evacs in the area of course...our two little local motels in Calimesa are full. Parking lots full. Saw more lawns being watered as I drove. LOL. Now how things felt...sense of tension in the air. People in yucaipa are busy...going here and there...nothing I can really put my finger on just more activity than normal this time of day. Maybe some sort of preparation. I know I stopped at our local hardware store and bought more face masks and goggles for my jeep and Mr. C4E's suburban. Yep, another one of my hunches..LOL. In addition to what we have at work due to regulations. There is smoke in the air but not too bad at this time. We have a haze over us that goes all the way to the east. Mt. San Jacinto off to the east is obscured by haze.

Great to read your report and learn that the high school is still intact. I live in the Torrance/Gardena area, and we've been seeing ash on our cars since at least last Friday. I'm in the coastal strip about 10-15 miles south and about 4-6 miles east of LAX. On Saturday, the air was thick with smoke and it was very hot, but it's been gradually improving since.

Very smokey, and a friend says they aren't letting anyone into Stevenson Ranch, so it's bad up there.

This is really bad! They are now calling it fire storms and fire has broken back out in the Stevenson Ranch area and getting bigger. No more trips from the air tonight and on-flow wind is picking up.

Lake Arrowhead area now being shown. Firefighters lost control of the controlled burn along HWY 18 and it jumped the road. 35,000 ordered evacuated all along the Rim of the World drive to Big Bear. Fire is now out of control in this area. Showing the remnants of their Channel 4 news van. A tree is about ready to tip over.
